Favorite Ultraman
Like the gaggle of other 'favorites' threads, but about Ultraman this time! Innovative, huh?
Yeah, I'll withhold comment to see what some others have to say.

Ultraman Nexus for me ...
Great series with excellent designs and an interesting storyline which unfortunatly was cut short due to bad ratings !
Can you believe that ?!
Other favourites are Ultraman the next , Ultraman Tiga and Ultraman Neos .
I haven't had time to watch the new UltraSeven X yet ...

How do you pick from so many shows?
The original ULTRAMAN is one of a kind, and with no doubt kick-started the TV henshin heroes. ULTRA SEVEN has incredible stories and a slightly more serious tone. Both shows have a top cast. THE RETURN OF ULTRAMAN keeps up the momentum pretty well. From ULTRAMAN ACE onwards, the rest of the Showa era is pretty much the same. ULTRAMAN TARO can be kind of hard to watch sometimes.
ULTRAMAN TIGA really kick-started things again, but all things considered, I think ULTRAMAN DYNA and ULTRAMAN GAIA are both better shows. The direct-to-video ULTRA SEVENs are all really good. ULTRAMAN NEXUS is by far my favorite of the Heisei Ultra shows, and probably one of my favorite of the whole genre. ULTRAMAN MAX goes back to the basics of hard-hitting monster action, but does so properly; the show has a great team of directors (Akio Jissoji, Takashi Miike, Shusuke Kaneko and Takeshi Yagi, just to name a few) and has a wide range of different stories and styles. ULTRASEVEN X is a polar opposite, and is something I think the franchise needed.
Just my two cents!

I'd say Tiga. I loved it the moment I saw it.

Re: Favorite Ultraman
... Haven't seen that many, a few episodes of Nexus, as many episodes of Mebius that have been subbed, but so far my favorite, with out a shadow of doubt is UltraSeven X.

I couldn't get in to nexus, or seven X, but I am in love(almost literally) with mebius. I wish they would have done a follow up to that.

Gridman is not Ultraman.
I thought so for the longest time too, but then I found out they were made by different companies, and other things.

Re: Favorite Ultraman
How is Gridman an Ultraman? If it was it would be called Ultraman Grid wouldn't it? Although it's another series about giant people fighting each other, it isn't an actual Ultraman series as far as I know/learn/was taught.
