DVD Covers?

Post by TBustah! »

You guys rip from the official DVDs to get episodes of the older shows, right?

Since you have the DVDs anyway, would it be too much trouble to ask you to scan and post the cover art?

The reason that I ask is that I want to eventually burn DVDs of these shows. Not to sell or rent them out, of course (I CAN read that request you make during the commercials  ), I just want to do it so that I can free up the space on my hard drive and be able to watch them on a bigger screen.

It'd be great if I could just print out the real covers, to give it an extra feel of authenticity, and so that I wouldn't have to design my own.

Thanks.

You can look up on sites that sell the actual DVDs for the covers. Also, for the older Sentai series, they have 2 DVDs per set instead of one.

Well, obviously I can buy them myself. But I'd rather not shell out money for something I'd probably never actually use: why watch the official DVDs that don't have subtitles when I have you guys? I also don't own a region-compatible DVD player, I couldn't watch them if even I wanted to (except maybe on my PC, but that brings us back to TV-Nihon, and the whole reason I want to burn my own discs in the first place).

I just thought that since you guys already had them... oh well.

I actually already started a cover for the first Megaranger volume a couple years ago, but never finished it. It's pretty much done, I guess, but I didn't put what episodes are included on it because I never got around to burning the disc itself (I wanted to program a proper menu for it, but didn't/don't know how), and thus didn't know how many episodes would fit on the first disc.

Not as cool as the real ones, I'm sure, that's why I wanted them.

You could just find some covers online for free. It could work.

That's a nice cover that you have there. Why not just go all out and make it custom all the way.

It's not as good as a real ones, and I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to authenticity. That much is evident in the fact that I included a bar code on this thing.

The only reason I even bothered making it in the first place is that I didn't realize there were official DVDs out there. I'm not sure why, I should have figured TV-Nihon's video quality was too good to have been taken from VHS. I guess maybe I thought they were showing it in reruns in Japan, and somebody recorded it with a DVR? I dunno...

Ideally, I'd take the scans, keep all the cover art, and just put subtitles under the more important text. Maybe add translations of the teasers on the back, if they even have them.
