filenames

Post by drag-5 »

hi guys,
not a huge issue here just something for convenience.
by default, my computer puts your files as thumbnails to show your lovely splash screens.
I kinda like it because you have some nice splash screens, only issue is that every filename appears like this -

[T-N]Keitai_Sousakan7...

so every episode looks the same, I can't easily see which episode is which.
i could easily change my view to show it as a list, but it loses it's identity, i lose the warmth that you put into the splash screens.
so, I was thinking a simple way to help out...
can you make it so that the episode number is closer to the beginning of the file name?
just so that it doesn't get cut off. that's all.

so maybe an example, instead of [T-N]Keitai_Sousakan7_01[04209C16].avi it could be [T-N]01_Keitai_Sousakan7[04209C16].avi

what do you think?
is this a possibility?
obviously you might not want to change mid series but maybe this could be a helpful thing to do for some future series?

Dude, you asked this question six months ago. I re-give you the answer you were given then:

six months is a long time, I was being a smart ass back then and i didn't have good reasons and reasonable request.

I'm not trying to cause trouble or anything.
just giving my request in a polite manner.

Are you planning to seed the episodes or something? Otherwise, I don't see why you can't change the file names yourself.

If you're going to distribute the files/seed then don't rename them. If you're keeping them for your personal use only then do whatever you want to the file name.

Changing the file name and then distributing would cause issues.
I’m the one nightmares are afraid of.

yeah i have no intention of changing them and all that.

I feel like people are misunderstanding.
I don't think i ever suggested that anyone take on any extra work.
I was asking about having the number in a different order for future series. that's all.
I'd like it if nobody confuse the issue.

Here's why that's a terrible idea:

[T-N]01_Up_The_Buttrangers.avi
[T-N]01_Buttfuckers.avi
[T-N]01_Poopsticks.avi
[T-N]02_Up_The_Buttrangers.avi
[T-N]02_Buttfuckers.avi
[T-N]02_Poopsticks.avi
[T-N]03_Buttfuckers.avi
[T-N]03_Poopsticks.avi
[T-N]04_Poopsticks.avi

You'd have a billion files sorted by numbers instead of by series. Very few people want it like that

that's a pretty good point.
i had not foreseen that issue as i keep all series in separate folders.

I see that it is then impossible to solve this issue.
I blame bill gates actually.

I guess i'll just have to do without the splash screens on my folders.
I'll tell my computer to force a list instead of thumbnails.

thanks for your consideration and... interesting filenames.

Then you still can use another Operating System, like Linux or Mac OS :)
