SD versions: Xvid or 264?
Now that the Heartcatch experiment has been going on a few weeks, I want to get some feedback from people. What do people prefer?
Edit: This is not for people who download HD, if you get those, this poll is not for you
Followup question: If you say H.264, why aren't you getting the HD version?

I'm going for H.264. It's higher resolution and superior general image quality with the same filesize, so I can't complain at all for it.
Re: SD versions: Xvid or 264?
I don't know which vids were xvid or h.264 just by watching but I would have gone with h.264 regardless.

xvid is almost always with .avi files. h.264 would be .mp4 or .mkv.ultrakill wrote:I don't know which vids were xvid or h.264 just by watching but I would have gone with h.264 regardless.
And yes, I would go with h.264 too because it's better quality and resolution, and we all like good quality. =D

Go with H. Less pixelation with SD. Better for DVD releases too. I download the HD files all the time. As long as you guys can get them.

If I can play the files on my PS3, I personally don't care either way. I DO download HD for my first viewing, but for the series I want to keep on my computer, I download the SDs to save space. I'm not too bothered by the resolution difference.

Re: SD versions: Xvid or 264?
My computer is around seven years old, HD playback is not impossible but it usually fails and stops the image while the sounds keep going and similar errors due to the lack of processing power. Until I can change it I'll keep downloading SD.takenoko wrote:I guess my followup question is why aren't you guys downloading the HD file then?

I prefer the high quality h.264.
The only reason I don't get the HD is because it seems that you guys aren't doing that anymore.
What happen? I liked HD.

Whatever I download I run througb the PSPVC conversion anyway so as long as that still works I don't mind either way.

No HD raws can be found. Simple reason why they stopped.busterbusterx wrote:I prefer the high quality h.264.

Re: SD versions: Xvid or 264?
I personally prefer the Xvid for the SD releases, because it works with more of the media playing programs I have without as many codecs.
and xvids work when I stream things to my Xbox.
also I never notice that much of a difference in video quality.

Re: SD versions: Xvid or 264?
I know that it won't mean much coming from me, since I don't post much, but the majority of people will view any of their downloads on their computer. So technically Xvid is the easier way to view with barely any problems.
I have DLed stuff from here in other formats but to be honest I haven't been able to view them all because of incompatibilities with my computer. I used to get the HD versions but had to stop because they were always glitchy, choppy and very slow. I could never watch them. So I went back to the SD versions instead and I have never had any problems since.
I know that the HD versions are the better of the two, but lets be honest here, not all computers are the same and not all computers will run a video/ audio perfectly, even if you pimp up your computer to as high as it can be taken.
In theory, I should be able to play videos in 720p with no problem but I can't. But I can watch videos in 480p perfectly. I guess this is due by how a video is encoded. Recently, I DLed 2 Jpop videos in 720p (had no choice since the vids were offered in this format) and only one played nicely. I noticed the extensions used and I downloaded another Jpop vid with the same extensions and that played nicely too. Granted, both were Full Screen but still I was able to watch them with barely any problems. The first time this has even happened.
Though at the end, everyone will probably vote for the H264 version or the HD version of a video, since it's the better way to watch videos, shows and such. But at least you won't hear people complain as much when Xvid versions are played on their computers. And as Takenoko has referred to before, even though people are requesting HD versions but not downloading as much...... well, then there's a reason why, right?
So my vote goes to: SD Version in XVID format. I know that many will complain, but it is the Universal format. And as my brother said, it is easier on a computer.
