Go-Onger Errors
Ep. 1., during the opening song karaoke:
What's set: (1st line of chorus) Engine Sentai Go-Onger
What it should be (or really is): Engine Zenkai, Go-Onger
Refer to the Crayon Shin-chan special introducing Go-Onger. After Sousuke introduces himself and the other four walk in singing the song, the Kanji subtitles are written as "エンジン全開 ゴーオンジャー!"

Re: Go-Onger Errors
How could it be Zenkai when it is a Super SENTAI series? Maybe the Kanji was written incorrectly?

Re: Go-Onger Errors
I personally doubt it. I know for sure that 'zenkai' is clearly heard in the song.Akari wrote:How could it be Zenkai when it is a Super SENTAI series? Maybe the Kanji was written incorrectly?

Then what would that translate to if it really is Engine "Zenkai"?

Re: Go-Onger Errors
If you roll the ending sound of engine into the next word (sentai) by saying it quickly then it can be heard. Otherwise I still hear "Sentai".

Re: Go-Onger Errors
Meh, we'll find out in about three months when the single comes out with the official lyrics.
Re: Go-Onger Errors

the first person was on YouTube posted the full lyrics of the opening.

Re: Go-Onger Errors
It'd translate into "Engine at Full Force, Go-onger!"Akari wrote:Then what would that translate to if it really is Engine "Zenkai"?
Think about it this way: The song follows a pattern. As the verses pass by, the lyrics contain a reference to the Rangers' individual role calls.
"Notteke seikai, hajikete mankai..." both state part of Go-onBlue's and Go-onYellow's role call catchphrases ("Zubari Seikai!"; "Smile Mankai!"). "Yabasou na yukai, hecchara goukai" also take from Go-onGreen's and Go-onBlack's role call phrases ("Dokidoki Yukai!"; "Dash goukai!"). See who's missing in the formula? Go-onRed. With the "Engine Zenkai, Go-onger!" bit, it fits with said program and doesn't leave the poor guy out.

Re: Go-Onger Errors
But doesn't Go-on Red already have the "Mach Zenkai" for his phrase? There'd be no need to change the song for Go-onRed then, and it would be Sentai

I don't think you're getting what I meant...Liner_Form wrote: But doesn't Go-on Red already have the "Mach Zenkai" for his phrase? There'd be no need to change the song for Go-onRed then, and it would be Sentai
*sigh* Maybe someone should refer Take-sama here and give his two cents (Obviously, my own knowledge of Japanese is lacking, it seems).

Re: Go-Onger Errors
Ah, sorry. I have been following this thread, but didn't want to interfere with the debate going on. I like seeing people discuss things and it was interesting to see everyone's different arguments. I particularly liked the note that the lyrics incorporate the catchphrase of the different rangers, something I had not really thought about before
If it helps, in episode 2, the karaoke has been changed so that all but the last one say Engine zenkai Go-Onger. If you listen to it, you can hear the first two are zenkai, and the last one is sentai. Also I trust Kaiser's Shin-chan point, even though I have not gone back to personally verify it.

Re: Go-Onger Errors
Speedor's catchphrase, as evidenced by the back of Sousuke's jacket, is "Drrr Drrr Drrr!" (not sure about the number of "r"s, and it probably doesn't matter anyway). Also, evidenced by his respective jacket, Go-onGreen's human name is Hant.

Yeah, can you guess why I didn't use that? Also, Doru works since it's the Japanes pronunciation of dor (conDOR). Those words also appear when their suits appear.Drago11 wrote:Speedor's catchphrase, as evidenced by the back of Sousuke's jacket, is "Drrr Drrr Drrr!"

Yeah, and Sosuke has a line over the o, but I'm not going to spell it that way. Both spellings were intentional
