Neat. I assume it won't get a Western release though.

Garo x Final Fantasy 14 crossover coming in 2017

I nearly fainted when I found out lol. First Sentai, and now Garo? And it's even coming to NA.

Apparently this came about because Keita Amemiya is doing some boss designs for an upcoming raid.

The NA and JP servers receive all the same things, no questions asked. This event will launch at the same time as the next patch, in early January.

I'm pretty fucking excited. It's tied to PVP, which is good timing for me, as I have some other things I wanna farm PVP for.

Yoshi-P, the producer of FFXIV, is a big tokusatsu fan. The original Paladin PVP armor (Lionsmane set) looked eerily similar to Garo's armor, and when pointed out, Yoshi-P just had a shit-eating grin. I'm sure he's very excited to have Amemiya helping them out with the next 24-man.

Kinda worried about it being PVP event. I never had much luck winning in that. If it's just getting Wolf Marks then no biggie since losers can get some amount. But I am worried about achievement being required for it like needing 100+ win for a mount which is insane if not impossible amount for someone like me lol.

The non-dyeable versions will be available through the Gold Saucer, apparently? Not sure if that goes for the mounts as well, since they're said to be achievement rewards. But yeah, if you want the dyeable armors you'll need to do whatever PVP they require.

Yes, which is fantastic news because I avoid PvP anything like the plague. I've spent the past few days trying to get a many Gold Saucer points as possible, I'm so excited

Heard something about the actor who played Zero, apparently he plays FF14 as well.

For anyone interested in Final Fantasy XIV

Post by shingokun »

Hey guys, with the announcement of the upcoming GARO X FFXIV I figured there might be some people interested in trying out FFXIV.

I used to very active in the game, but unfortunately the group that I used to play with has moved on, so I haven't really played too much for the past 2 months. That being said I was super excited to see the GARO event coming, and will totally be grinding out some of that gear.

If anyone is interested in starting I figured I'd mention that I do have control of a mostly dead free company (FFXIV's version of a guild) On the Sargatanas server (Aether Data Center i believe). While not very active we do own a house and I'd be willing to help people out (I know most of that game forwards and backwards).

Make me want to play it. Too bad my computer is old and on a (relatively) old version of Linux Mint (Maya).

Going to repost something I wrote elsewhere on the forums, as an advisory to those considering buying the game just for this event:

FFXIV is very story-involved, with near everything locked behind the main story quests. If you're going to buy the game and pay for subscription time just for the crossover event (which is only scheduled to last for 2 months, so time is ticking), please be aware of this. You'll be able to get the undyeable versions of the armor through the Gold Saucer and its currency, which is available at a lower level, but it'll likely be a massive grind. The dyeable versions - and likely the mounts - will be through PVP, which is for players at level cap (60). If you want to get everything, you've got a huge time sink in front of you. I do not recommend buying the game just for the event. You will burn out; there are no WoW-esque jump potions.

That said, I'd love to welcome anyone still determined to play onto my server, but Gilgamesh is locked in perpetuity. :^)
