I totally thought they were going to introduce the big baddie for the series finally. Oh well...actually I bet it's not far off still.

i really hope so too, i would hate for this series to have a lackluster ending

I also do not like Hanto or Sousuke's new hairdos. I only started to really notice the difference when I watched the ending that was filmed in the beginning of the series and I am not sure what they were thinking when they made the decision.

i think they are contractully obliged not to change their hairstyles till after the series for promo purposes

Umm, I just have one small history based question because I don't actually know...Were there Mammoths back during the time of the Dinos?

i am guessing so, since this is the 2nd series (after zyuranger) to use it, i think that they are smart enough not to make the same mistake twice

i agree that this episode could have been much better, but hopefully it will work as a set up to either the next episode or the ending arc

3 new Engines and they form a train no less, the cg effect for them on fire was pretty nice and you can see how they'd be mistaken for a golden dragon, I guess all that work on Den-O cg trains really paid off. So Gaiark is again looking for a lost tribe member on Earth I wonder if that's was another reason for them coming to Earth other than just escaping the Engines and turning Earth into a world suited for them?

Actually if you go back and watch the first episode again, Sousuke's hairstyle HAS changed, if only slightly. Hanto's, it doesn't look like to me, but it might not be that obvious in the first episode.

No. The mammoths showed up around the Pliocene epoch, which was around 5 million years ago. The dinosaurs basically all died out in the Cretaceous-Tertiary Extinction Event, which was 65.5 million years ago. So there was about a 60 million year gap between dinosaurs and mammoths.

Why Sentai keeps lumping them together, I'll never know.

I swear, if there is a G12 I am NOT watching this show anymore.

Maybe Hanto's was just off today. I'm pretty sure sentai actors are not contractually obligated to not change their hairstyles.

Examples:
Liveman, actress who plays Megumi grows her hair out
Jetman, Ako's actress also grows her hair out
Timeranger, Tatsuya's actor grows his hair out
Gaoranger, Black's actors grows a mullet and then chops it off

So...I believe it's possible for them to change their look, but only to a certain degree. Sousuke could never really change his signature hairdo (much like the spikey headed Ban or pony-tail Umeko) because I believe it's a part of his character. And, the ones I mentioned before were very subtle differences. But when you compare episode 1 to 50 you can see a major difference. But it is quite obvious that in the team ups, the characters usually are sporting a new look. But if you look closely you'll definitely notice Sousuke's hair is different. Maybe I just pay attention to this stuff too much. Like how I compare the body-types of the suit actors as opposed to the real actors and wonder why they chose some of them (Hanto's?).

In the early episodes, Gunpei used to have his hair styled into a faux hawk. Subtle differences as the show progresses are a natural result of the need to get regular haircuts over the course of a year.

Mammoths seem to be used a lot when introducing prehistoric animals but it makes me wonder why sabertooth tigers aren't used anymore.
