Go-Ongers missing something...

Post by jyemenai »

Okay, so I don't know too much about Sentai. I've seen Geki (my first), Magi and am watching Go-Onger, and grew up watching the American ones for a pretty long time. Now, I noticed that, normally, there's a "power up", and they get new suits. However, in Go-onger, there is so far no new outfits and it's almost the end. I always thought they got power ups as it got closer to the end (somewhere in the 30s for Sentai, and I dunno when for American).

Does anyone think Go-Onger is going to get a new suit, and I should have just hushed up and waited? lol.

Boukenger didn't have a team power-up. So in the past four years, Magi had one, Bouken didn't, Geki did, and Go-Onger doesn't. It's common, but not a necessity. Frankly, with the gajillion Engines and trillions of Souls, they don't need a special form to sell more toys.

I like power ups as much as the next guy, but I don't think it'd be very interesting if every series did it. Besides, we got 7 rangers this time as well as Go-Roader

Aaah. See, it would've helped if I had watched Boukenger too. I would've seen the pattern.

Yup, I shouldn't complain. It'd be kinda weird if they had some power up now that I think about it. All the mecha combinations, Go-Roader, and talking engines is enough.

But Deka had in the previous year prior to Magi. I dun think there's a pattern to the "power-ups", it's all up to the director.

Besides they have G12, the most number of mecha in one single combination in Sentai history, so they made their mark already.

We can't go there because it'll spoil something. But you're wrong, it wasn't Gingaman to be the first.

When in doubt, check out the Super Sentai Secret Files at the end of Boukenger to resolve your Sentai history problems!

Yeah I reckon a power up would be overkill now.

As for missing something, this year has been pretty poor in my opinion. I haven't been able to watch an episode and think "wow, can't wait for next week!", it's all been pretty bland. Not really sure why either. Geki, Magi, and Deka were all amazing (Bouken was meh), the stories were enthralling and kept the plot running along nicely. Go-Onger hasn't had too much holding it together apart from the odd new engine appearing.

Think it just doesn't gel properly.

It's funny, because I remember on YouTube that a couple of people were ripping on one person who totally loves Battalizers ...

They also have a lot of different special attacks that they can do with their weapons. The Rocket Boosters/Daggers alone have 6 different attack modes.
