This episode was all over the place - funny moments, sad moments and utterly bizarre moments.

-Hanto calling Ren "Mom" in the middle of a battle was adorable.
-Hanto and Gunpei bath scenes...really creepy. And wow...Hanto still has scars from all of those battles? That Kega reference was from really early in the series - GP 4, I think.
-Speaking of Hanto and Gunpei, that opening scene was hilarious.
-"Yes we can" and "change" being the slogan for the Ministerial change in power - never expected to see blatant American political references in a Japanese kids' show.
-I've often wondered why the good guys don't try to step on the bad guys more often. Although, if it has the type of consequences it did in this episode, I think that qualifies as a good reason.
Spoiler
-That dissolution scene caught me by surprise. Wasn't expecting them to "kill off" so many characters with so little warning.

What are you calling the Obama reference?

The new minister was probably designed at least 6 months ago, probably more. Before the democratic candidate was was chosen.

The "Yes, we can" that Yogoshimakuritein says at about 4:27. That slogan started being used back in February of 2008, so there was plenty of time for it to be worked into the script.

It could just be a coincidence, but the fact that it was said in English (along with the use of "change" in English in the preceding line of dialogue) in a political context makes it more likely that it really was intended to be a reference.

It's certainly an homage, being sentai and all, everything's a reference to something

I thought they hinted pretty heavily that Hanto and Gunpei were going to die in this episode, so when they beat the monster of the week I thought my assumption was wrong and that it wasn't going to happen. Then Yogo Dad comes in and destroys Ganbaru-O whole

It's not everyday that you get to see a fat monster be surprisingly nimble.

I can't get enough of Gunpei's wacky antics. Shame on him for trying to lie to his mom with such a flimsy plan. On the other hand, Gunpei's mom is a bit strange, wanting him to get married even though he is only in his twenties. Is this the first time a male ranger tried to get out of an arranged marriage?

There were a lot old wrinkly guys at the bathhouse. I guess the younger generations don't care for them.

Spoiler
Saki: It looks like those two have no good points.
Ouch. She must regret saying that after what happened to them.

When watching this ep, I was wondering when was the last time the mecha tried to step on a monster and they actually tried. Of course, it backfired.

I had some tears...that I will admit. I think even though I liked others individually, I liked the teamwork between Gunpei and Hanto more than either Wings's or RBY team.

I guess timeline in Go Onger is different from irl of course, or that Hant does not heal very well. But one got to remember in compare to others, it seemed like Hant get hit or hurt more than any others.

Hahaha. Apparently the writer of Go-Onger has the same view of Obama that I do. =p Best part of this series by far.

Though this was a good episode. I was rather glad to see them have another episode focus on those two. They are like my favorite. Sure they got blown away, but there are only a few more eps left anyway.

Yeah, I'm sure Japanese writers really care about American politics. It'd be too simple for it to be a simple cultural reference like every other referential joke in the show

By the same logic, this commercial is racist:

It was a joke. Obama's slogan was applied to the supreme evil bad guy. Intentional or not, I find it amazingly awesome. Besides, for all you know, I am totally right. The logic that no Japanese writer could possibly care about American politics is racist itself. I'm certainly not skilled in the Japanese language, but to take me as someone ignorant of Japanese culture would be a mistake. I mean the fact they put it to a person with the prime minister title was indeed the joke (its like the president, but not), but it was also the main bad guy of power... So who really knows? Could be either way. Laugh with me, not at me, dammit. =p But yeah I will concede that it was likely just a joke to relate the prime minister dude to normal politics. The irony doesn't change.

PS: I see it clearly now! Ginjiro-go is the Straight Talk Express. Go on!

I'm not saying that Japanese writers don't care about American politics. I'm saying that interpreting the joke as being anything more than referential humor would be arguable by a faulty one

A reference to one of my favorite anime's (Tenchi Muyo RAWKZ!!!111!). I am pleased.

Oh yeah, sorry about Gunpei and Hanto. I wonder how Sousuke is gonna beat this guy on his own (since he seems to be the only one capable to kill boss characters).
