Re: Engine Sentai Go-Onger VS GekiRanger
I think it's more of a fact that they didn't need it - they're so strong now in their basic form as it is. After all, they took Long down originally without Kageki.
To be brutally honest, this felt more like a Gekiranger movie with some Go-Onger thrown in than the other way around.

Nope. The first time they formed G12, Sousuke winces in pain, because Yogostein had drilled that thing into his heart. Immediately after forming G12 for the first time, Sousuke then dies.
After that, is when Yogostein puts on the wind-up key from Holon-whatever-sama and steals the Change Souls. They get them back and form G12 a second time, knocking Yogostein back down to normal size. Then, Sousuke revives, and has a one-on-one duel with Yogostein, killing him.
There isn't any point between G12's first appearance and Yogostein's death where this movie could've possibly taken place in the series, thus necessitating it being alternate universe.

Isn't that usually the case with the VS series? The older team drives the plot while newer team undergoes some character growth.Warrior of Zarona wrote:To be brutally honest, this felt more like a Gekiranger movie with some Go-Onger thrown in than the other way around.

That movie was very involved. I enjoyed it. I was expecting a "Janken/Jyuken" joke, but I'm satisfied.

Re: Engine Sentai Go-Onger VS GekiRanger
I felt the same way. The moment when Rio departs (again) just outshines the other defining moments. Its kinda emotionally overwhelming, to be honest, than when the go-ongers got their whatever-kenWarrior of Zarona wrote: To be brutally honest, this felt more like a Gekiranger movie with some Go-Onger thrown in than the other way around.
I felt the previous VS movie focused more on the gekirangers as well. Though I just felt that the gekirangers made their presence felt more than the other sentai teams in both movies.Arigomi wrote: Isn't that usually the case with the VS series? BTW, Gekiranger is my first super sentai since Jetman n loved it. I heard Magirangers was good too, though for now Gekirangers is the most awesome one for me. So my opinions above might be a little biased

I think the VS tend to be a little more bias for the previous year, simply because it's the real last thing those guys will do together as a group, so it always feels like their goodbye special

Re: Engine Sentai Go-Onger VS GekiRanger
I mean, we have to look at last year's VS plot compared to this year's.
This is probably one of the reasons why I feel the way I do about it. I mean, what I want to know is if Geki was more popular in Japan compared to the other recent SS teams.
Spoiler
I think one of the main reasons it feels more Geki than any of the others are the villians. Boukenger's villains, like Go-On's villians, felt more like support characters while the main villain of VS is someone more Gekiranger-related. Thus, even though it is a teamup, it feels like it has more to do with the Gekirangers than the other team, and this is in BOTH cases.

Despite the ratings, Go-On probably made more money than Geki if Toei felt this VS movie was worth making into a theatrical release.

Nah, Toei just makes super forms every other season. Apparently saves money on new costumes.Phoenix512 wrote:As for the Super thing, I think it was that the Go-Ongers didn't have a super form that they felt going super would overshadow them.

I thought it was okay but I think that this movie really could of been much better in my opinion. I mean it was good just I don't really like Go-Ongers all that much and I really wanted to see the super forms.
