Well, all the GenJyuken animals were mythological beasts based on the animals of the oriental Zodiac. The ShiGenShou, specifically, were based on the four guardian spirits of Kyoto. Since a turtle is not considered a mystical animal, the creators had to go a different route.

The story of Genbu also included a snake that was wrapped around it, so I guess they chose to highlight the snake aspect and use the mythological animal based on a snake (i.e. Basilisk). He looks like the turtle only to coincide with the "four guardians legend". Hope that clears things up for you.

I think Bomper could use a new paint job.

Aside from the four guardian beasts of Kyoto fact, I always thought he looked more like a turtle to suggest that he, like other genjuken users, started out as a normal animal via rinjuken.

It's because RV doesn't mean the same thing in Japanese. What one refers to in English as a RV is what the Japanese call a "camping car".

Apparently Japan wasn't familiar with cars where one can sleep in them, so they took a term from America and misappropriated it. So the Japanese refer to SUV's as RVs.

I think with engine soul insert into the gun they could use special shots powered by souls that is why Gunpei is shooting bullets with a lot of punch.

I thought Birca was a shark at first... but as I took in details, I realized that he's not a shark.. but some weird multilingual green Orca. BIke + oRCA. See? Why an Orca? No clue.. but he can;t be a shark since his tail is horizontal.

Gunpherd confuses me though.. it looks like some kinda dragon or alligator... Course... upon reading the wiki entry, apparantly he's a German Shepherd. WHich now makes alot more sense. GUN + shePHERD. Course.. the actual name makes no sense vehicle wise.. but hey, it's sentai.

The fact that the Ranger with the water mammal was fighting against the water polluting Gaiarc general was not lost on me...I honestly look forward to see how all of this goes.

If he was a shark, his tail would be vertical and his name would be Barka. Or something like that. Although it's possible to get that out of Baruka.

that's weird, when I first saw him(before the series started) I thought he was some kind of Boar.
Because it looked like he had tusks. Then I came to the realization he was some kind of canine.
I thought wolf at first because I didn't think there was a ever a dog themed ranger.

But the one that makes the least sense to me is Buson, when I think Lion the first vehicle I think of is far from being a bus.

I guess I misunderstood because of icon they used for Hant. And Birca's eye look dangerous, unlike others where it just look cute or stoned. I should have pay attention to his tail.

Was there even orca mecha before? Shark was usually popular choice for water theme. Oh well, it's cool.
