Problem with Gokai 5 Version 2
Hello.
First off, thanks for releasing a Version 2 of this episode. Loving all your Gokaiger releases.
I did notice a problem with this release however. The episode itself is OK, however once the ep is completed, the video stops but the audio keeps playing. It looks like the raw has the audio for the entire Blu-Ray disc, rather then just episode 5
From what I can tell, the HD release includes the following:
1. Audio/Video for Episode 5
2. Audio for Episode 6
3. Audio for Episode 7
4. Audio for Episode 8
I don't know if the SD version has the same issue. Just thought you all should be made aware.

Yup, you're absolutely right. It's unfortunate that we wasted any sort of space on that audio, but I don't think it really detracts from anything, at least not enough to warrant a new version being released. Thanks for bringing this to our attention

If you were not using two pass encoding to keep a constant filesize I would agree with you. Unfortunately, you are, so this waste of about 67.5MB is taking the total bits allotted to the video from 327.5MB (your norm) to 260MB, which is about a 20.6% reduction. This is significant and does affect video quality. If you still have access to this disc you should reconsider, if only internally to confirm that losing a fifth of your video's bitrate is noticeable.

Re: Problem with Gokai 5 Version 2
Yeah, but that's pretty theoretical. Intellectually, yeah, the video is going to be lower quality, but people aren't visual bit reading machines. How many people are watching this and going "oh yeah, there's 70 mb less quality in the video than usual".
Before answering this thread, I took a look through the video, and it looks fine. There's no blockiness as far as I can see or pixelation. Do you have screen shots that show this encode is lower quality than the broadcast release?
Edit: The problem isn't the reencoding. I just don't think anyone will notice a difference if a new version were released. And that's my criteria for deciding to not do a new version.

If this does not look bad to you I do not know what to tell you. This is not a theoretical problem.

No, I don't think most people would. It's dark and there's smokey gradients, if this is the worst case scenario, I think I'd be okay with that since most people would look at that and probably not even see the video flaws.
I can do another encode, but I'm pretty sure most people aren't going to care.

I can't see many differences, if any at all.

Re: Problem with Gokai 5 Version 2
That's because codecs are smart, and when you use 2 pass encoding, it's good at saving space during high frequency parts and stuff where a lot of detail wouldn't do much good
This is the best I can do to aid gomenrider's point. On the panel, you can see some light pixelation around the red box
If you look at the stripe fence behind pink, the lines are a bit more pixelated. But overall, if you're just watching the show, you're not going to see the difference. This is what I mean by not being able to see the 70 mb difference. And this is why you need comparison shots to establish a baseline.

You should probably do another encode. The whole point of a HD release being that the footage is in high quality after all.
Pixelation errors go against the whole idea of that kind of release.

I agree with not doing a v2, after all it's not something important like a missing effect. It's just the video looking really, really bad.

IMO, i don't notice anything weird about the video , but the excess audio is.....kind of distracting
If, there will be no V2, is there anything i can do myself to trim the excess audio?

Re: Problem with Gokai 5 Version 2
Strange, but when I open up the v2, my track goes up to 1:39:59. There is video for the initial 24:45.
Then it gets weird. If I just let the show continue playing for the rest of the time, I hear the audio of Gokaiger 06 (no video).
(And I'm not going to just 'listen' for 20+mins of audio only... so I don't know what the rest of the track is.)
When I click on the bar, it just stops, and doesn't increment. No sound, nothing.

People say that the real world isn't black or white, its shades of gray. I prefer to think its a rainbow spectrum, when any color is dark enough, its black, when any color is light enough, its white. Yet, there is a spectrum of cultures and values.
