Gaim is really good so far. It probably has the tightest plot for a KR show that I've seen. (or in fact compared to most TV shows)
To be fair I don't find the central character all that engaging - he's kind of bland (which is common for a main character). I still have Ryuki as my favourite Rider and series (and OOO for both for recent series). If Micchi was the main character, I might think differently.

It's just used as a way to talk about post-Decade series because of their different broadcast schedule. It's a sub-type, not an entirely new set.Lunagel wrote:Just cause it's on a wiki doesn't make it fact!

Urgh, having to pick only one is hard, but if I'm to pick, the vote goes to Blade. After marathoning 555, I was a little displeased with the cards Blade threw at me, and the first few episodes were a yawner. But then everything started to heat up (And I actually grew to like the first OP), it easily is the best for me.

I really wanted to put Gaim as my favorite but Agito still my top and first Heisei Rider, 2nd will be Kabuto and Gaim perhaps? 3rd W 4th Den-O and 5th Fourze. That's my opinion.

Proving that English speaking people know nothing about Japanese conventions.

I dunno, I always called it that, having picked it up through fandom osmosis I guess. I think most people who use the terms Heisei and Showa are at least vaguely familiar with what that means, but there IS such a sharp divide between the end of Kiva, and Decade and on, what with the numerical convention (1(0), 2 (W), 3 (OOO) 4(ze), and then it started to get shaky, obviously, with people reaching for things like the 5 fingers and the 6 slices in Gaim's visor, etc.), and the common elements between seasons (like that indication for a while that Foundation X was going to be the new Shocker)Catastrophe wrote:Proving that English speaking people know nothing about Japanese conventions.
It's generally accepted that Decade-Gaim are still Heisei seasons, but saying Neo-Heisei merely refers to that group of seasons post major overhaul of the franchise that started with Decade's half-season and suddenly KR starts in the middleish of the year instead of at the same time as Sentai.
I'm not even making sense anymore, am I?

Re: Gaim shaping up to be the best Heisei & Neo Heisei serie
There are things in each series that make me absolutely love it.
For instance:
I love Blade for how Kenzaki Kazuma sacrifices his humanity to save Hajime Aikawa.
I love Kabuto for Tendou Souji's personality.
To choose just one thing as being superior to all the rest would be an exercise in futility.

Re: Gaim shaping up to be the best Heisei & Neo Heisei serie
Off Topic: Neo Heisei doesn't make sense in terms of Japanese Culture or histories. I mean, we didn't have a Neo Showa period after Sky Rider, or during Black and Black RX. The names aren't that, loosey goosey up in the air the term Showa Era and Heisei era actually mean something hence why they're used. Just wait for a new era to show up and if KR is still running THEN we can change the name.
Back on topic: Agito was a superb series, and I feel as if, after Faiz which I truly enjoyed but am aware that there's a big divide in the KR community on that, something was lost in terms of the story and feeling of Kamen Rider. They just haven't had the same feeling since those days, even with how wonderful the ending to Blade was, or how much I liked Kurenai Otoya. And yet still, even with that strange sense of things missing, I feel as if Kabuto has, so far, the best complete package in Heisei era Rider series.

To be fair, during KR Black, the Showa era wasn't used when talking about KR.

Makes sense. And I get that they are still Hesei era but I've just grown accustomed to seeing the term Neo and it just stuck. If that makes any sense.butyoumight wrote:

It reminds how someone got ticked that I called "Lightning Returns" Final Fantasy XIII-3.
Re: Gaim shaping up to be the best Heisei & Neo Heisei serie
Don't get me wrong but even though I like Gaim, W was still a great series.
