Alternate Title - Picked up Wacky C3PO and Spock

'salright. A lot happened and I feel like I enjoyed most of it. So 4/5.

I'm a bit annoyed that the non-humans don't get the big credits. I know voice actors are usually credited after the live ones, but it feels a bit... unBALANCEd.

I don't like the way Naaga speaks. Spock and Data didn't have emotions either, but at least they could speak fluently. Also they understood friendship on an intellectual level. The writing here makes Naaga seem like a dumb baby who's also slow on top of it. Some combination of the writing/acting is to blame for this, since I normally like characters without emotions. But this one wasn't doing it for me.

Also, we're calling him Naaga since he's from Ophiuchus the snake handler constellation, and naaga are famous snake creatures.

I'd like to see Balance be even more outrageous, but he was pretty fun to watch.

I didn't like the way the KyuuTama deus ex machina showed up. It was fine for Lucky since he was near death and he did something of conviction. Here, it just feels like "Oh, it's time for them to transform. Better get them their transformation bauble." Lazy writing.

I wasn't as impressed with the mech fight this time, but it is interesting that gold and silver's mecha already have humanoid modes.

Still don't know much about Champ, the cook, or the girl, despite them being the original rangers. You have 50ish episodes, slow down the pacing a bit. It's not like it'll help the inevitable saggy middle.

It seems like the director told the actor to portray a variant on the kuudere trope.

Is it just Lucky's wild imagination or does everyone from the Ophiucus System really look the same? You can tell they just had the actor wear a longer wig and different clothes to represent the women in the cutaway.

Balance is just so weird. I wasn't expecting to see a male-gendered gold robot that is extremely flamboyant. On top of that, Balance has tentacle-like probes to either control machines or electrocute opponents. In the past, super sentai usually made these types of characters for throwaway MotW joke villians. As TenbinGold, the scale mofit makes the helmet looks like it has bushy eyebrows.

I noticed that detail too. I almost wrote "The Naaga species" before remembering Naaga's specifically this one dude.

Kicking the episode off with some more details about the Empire/Armada was a good choice. It looks like they'll probably face off against the planetary governors for a while until they improve their teamwork and/or increase their powers enough to take on the Chief Retainers. I like that the KyuuRangers were outclassed by Elidron. There’s a reason the Armada conquered the galaxy, right? If it was that easy to beat them, there would be no stakes to the fight. I was surprised at how reckless Garou was for someone who was reluctant to fight last episode by charging in against Elidron.

Some good additions to the team. I adore Balance’s suit actor. He did a good job of bringing such an energetic voice actor to life. I like Naga too, but I could never tell what emotion he was supposedly expressing without Balance’s dialogue. I’m not sure if the actor is struggling with his portrayal, or if the director is telling him to be intentionally make his expressions vague.

There’s a nice balance (pardon the pun, wow, that’s going to get annoying) between Balance being able to control machines and Naga being able to control people. I’m sure both abilities will come in handy.

The way Tenbin and Hebitsukai ripped Chamaelon and Kajiki out of KyuuRen-Oh was surprisingly funny. I also got a laugh out of the way Lucky hit ORION’s figurehead as he flew out in Shishi Voyager early on.

I supposed I was aware of Lucky still overusing the “Alright, lucky!” shtick, but it was more like background noise to me. Still hoping that they dial its use down (I’d be cool with once an episode) but at least I don’t want to smack the actor.

So Naaga and Balance seem pretty cool. I like how the robot is the emotional one and the human is the robotic one. Balance is already the most interesting character, but that's mostly because we don't really have any characterisation on any of the rangers from the first episode.

A huge improvement over the first episode in story telling and pacing.
I wish they would give Hame a real personality; right now she just laughs at everything.
I look forward to seeing more of Naaga.

I love Balance & Naga right off the bat with the way they interact with each other, though some of Naga's delivery did felt off but it was good

Lucky's damn catchphrase is thankfully tone down but it's still annoying nonetheless

I felt the same way, but I got around it by thinking that he's spent most of his life on a planet with a bunch of the same people who all speak flatly with no emotion. Kind of like how you will pick up an accent if you spend enough time in a foreign country!

Does anyone else think that Balance sounds just like Ryutaros?

Naaga's actor has a bit of an issue where when the camera isn't specifically focusing on his face he has kind of a half smile when he's looking at the other actors. Sometimes even in the closeups he'll kinda twitch into an almost smile. Not sure if this is deliberate on the part of the director though.

Balance, please stop talking like a 16 year old girl. It's disturbing.

i kinda got the feeling that for balance he is like a joker/loki type. which given he is a balance and how they designed him, its actually kind clever.
im wondering if at first they were going to have a robot that needed to learn emotions but then decided a robot teaching a human about emotions was more interesting. this is a story line i hope they keep on with and get back to. unlike a certain lion's and shark's rivalry....

in the HD download some of the subs go off screen, and when i did a screen cap, the images had a strange green boarder.

Naaga and Balance are going to be a fun duo, and it's nice to see their Voyagers are more defined and will likely operate solo a little more.
I guess that means Pink and Orange will have Voyagers in the same since, while the main five keep the robo.
