Poll: What's your opinion of Princess Jellyfish

It was short and it's different from our usual shows, but what did y'all think of this series?

It was really better than I had thought it would be, in large part due to the incredible acting of all concerned*. In a lot of TV adaptations of manga, there is so much overacting that it becomes insufferable. This time, characters that had seemed unbelievable became very human and believable.

I wish that TV-Nihon would do more of this kind of thing, so that we can follow toku actors in their careers. Of course, there's no way that every actor's every project can be done, but getting snapshots here and there of them is always a great pleasure for me. (Is everyone able to name the toku luminaries who lit up Princess Jellyfish?)

*Except Inari. I don't know if the fault lies with the mangaka, the director, the actress or some noxious combination of all three, but that character represents for me exactly the kind of overacting and erratic motivation that undermines a lot of Japanese comedy. Hanimori, who was also comedic foil, did not fall prey to this.

Oh man, I loved Inari. Her cartoonish villainy was perfect. And sort of necessary, since if she played her part straight, it'd be weird and stalkerish and rapey. In the manga, she uses a date rape drug on Shuu instead of the hypnotism when she puts him in her bed, for example.

I think one of my favorite laugh out loud scenes is when she takes over Amamizukan and is just lording over the Ama~s who have money just stuffed in every crevice of their costume.

Great cast as Hush said. Any time someone said "THat was Kiriko?!" or whatever just made me smile.

I wish we had more time to do side shows too. I always like doing things different from our Sentai/Rider thing.

A big thanks to Hush and PHurricane for helping with the timings for this project, as well as everyone else who helped. This was a tough one.

I really enjoyed this show! I was looking forward to it just as much Kamen Rider Build and KSLR v KSPR (maybe even a little more than KSLR v KSPR- so far...)! Heck, I found myself LOL'ing too many times! There were also times when my allergies started acting up while watching and my eyes started to water.
I haven't read the manga nor have I watched the anime so everything was new to me. I don't know if this story line varied from either. I just might watch the anime to see if there are many differences.

I now want to watch Kamen Rider Kiva, too! I've never seen it!

Anyway, thank you for introducing me to Princess Jellyfish. I loved it! If it wasn't for TV-Nihon's subs and posts, I would never have heard of Princess Jellyfish.

On another note, I am thankful for y'all because you also posted or reposted Densha Otoko! That, too, was an awesome show! I binged watched it! Laughing my head off and, I don't know why, but my allergies also acted up during this show! Maybe I'm allergic? I don't know.
