Alt Title: Luna said it was funny

If it had to be a clip show, that would be pretty fun.

Amazed they returned to the deception on Shovellow.

Just turn the whole thing into a music video! So cheap!

The Mashins are totally sexual for their partners

For a clip show, that had just the right combination of stupidity and effort to work. It could have gone terribly wrong if they tried any harder or didn't try as hard, but for what they've done here they've stuck the landing. It's still a clip show, but it's a mostly decent one.

Most of it was just blather/recapping for the sake of filling time, but like Takenoko I'm surprised they actually followed-up on Shovellow being deceived early in the series. It obviously won't go anywhere, and if anything doubles-down on the screwball anti-moral of that episode, but I do like me some continuity. The Kirameijin music video was also a nice touch, since that song has only been used once in the series so far (and for the wrong robo, no less!).

If I had read this before watching the episode, I'd disagree with you. But Heliko, Fire, and Mach seem to be really into their partners. Like, to an unhealthy extent. I'm not even sure it's subtext at this point.

Kiramager has an advantage in that a good chunk of characters are voice-only, and ones that don't require a suit actor at that. So it's pretty easy to create "new" footage and frame it as the characters all talking to each other. Compare it with the shooting special, which clearly was done by someone slowly losing their will to live, the difference is stark

The song is nice but I actually much prefer the more dramatic instrumental version, that they first used in the first mecha fight in Episode 2. It's 50% the reason why that fight was so memorable to me!

Also even if they might come off strong to the point of concerning, it's really cute to me how each of the Mashins are their partner's biggest fans. Their focus is likely to dwindle as the series goes down, but as of now I think Kiramager has done a good job of making them feel like an essential part of the cast. I don't think they managed as well as this with the Engines from Go-Onger.

I feel like the engines being able to emote in hologram form gives them the edge over blinking cubes.

Agreed. While Toei gets the most out of some plastic cubes bobbing up and down, it's not nearly as expressive.

That made me realize, considering it's covid times, Fuwa and Yaiba's actors probably weren't even around the same day when they did the voice over. Imagine having a conversation with someone not there at all

Being a clipshow episode, I had zero expectations going in to this one. Fire being petty throughout most of it made me laugh and the interactions between the 5 almost made me forget that they're just a bunch of light-up props. Also, loved the mini music video we got.

Mind you, that's incredibly normal for western voice actors. But for a screen actor who only ever films in person with other actors, yeah, I can definitely see that as being jarring.

Oh yeah. Isn't that a big difference with dubbing stuff between east and west? I can't recall a good example, but it feels like when I see the dubbing portions in Japanese, there tends to be a group of people
