LOL... suit coming from the bracelet! I laugh hard that time... It didn't bother me, b'coz it was a classic series.
Anyway, nice that we can see a subs version from marvel site every weeks in Thursday.

This is awesome! Only downside is it won't be permanent, but here's in hoping we see an American release of the dvd set...without edits.

Hmm quality isn't exactly great though, Maybe TN can use the translations and encode them with the DVD rips. Saves finding a translator.

So we need a list of staff that we have to find.

This is pretty cool. I can't see them subbing the entire series though. Plus the video quality is quite small, not something like 230mb. So theres still room for a decent fansub!

I have just thought of something as a word of warning to whoever decides to sub this series. Marvel are real bastards when it comes to copyright issues & might clamp down on the fansub group who does it. I'd hate to see this happen to any group, as it could lead to the termination of their other projects as well, or even to the group as a whole. Be careful.

True, but this kinda falls in this grey category being at the time Marvel gave total creative control to Toei for the project. It like many anime of it's time have split rights to it. Marvel owns the Spider-man character, but not necessarily the tokusatsu itself. Actually, I'm surprised Marvel is doing this much and while I have hopes of an American dvd release (because as much as I'd love to own the Japanese dvds, I just don't have the $300-500+ to spend on the set that it's going for when I rarely come across one available for purchase), I am trying not to get my hopes too high because only die-hards of Spidey and/or tokusatsu are going to buy this. It's quite a niche within a niche market. They won't be able to mass promote it and expect the same kind of sales of their other direct to dvd releases.

We are talking about Marvel here. So there is no grey area as far as they are concerned. They own Spider-man & have the final say. Marvel isn't a very nice company to deal with when it comes to copyright. The creative people are great, its just the suits & money men who are the problem.

Wow, I never thought I'd see subtitled episodes of the tokusatsu Spiderman series come straight from Marvel Comics. This is a huge surprise. Is there any way we can tell them that they've done something extremely awesome here, other than a high viewing and rating count?

If they released it on DVD, I'd gladly pick it up.

I just finished watching the first episode on Marvel's website.

It was horribly cheesy, and horribly 70's, with laughable special effects.

In other words, I loved every second of it. It's pretty amazing to think this started the Super Sentai series. I think they have the second episode up today too. It's definitely worth a watch, though yeah, the quality is a bit disappointing.

Here's hoping for an official DVD release!

Cool isn't it. Its much better than the 70's American series, much more enjoyable to watch :-)

I just barely found out about this! I've been wanting to watch this show since I was a kid! I just happened to be trolling Marvel's site and I saw it and watched it right away. It was cheesy and horribly 70s but in a strange way that makes it good. This is a big surprise coming from Marvel, I've been hoping TVN would get around to subbing this for a long time, oh well, at least we get to see it somehow.

Yeah, I don't see it either. On the website it said that the series has 27 episodes but doesn't it have 40? Still something is better than nothing. Here's hoping they decide to release the DVD, there's definitely a fanbase for it.

It would be great to see the spiderman from japan, being a heavy spidey fan. But the giant robot might be a bit much  ((yay first post))

So, Marvel.com has uploaded the final episode today. Having watched all 41 episodes, I must say that I greatly enjoyed the series.

The story itself was also very simplistic. Each episode would focus on the main baddy organization carrying out some nefarious plot, and your friendly neighborhood Spider-man would catch wind of it and foil their plot (usually with some help from some kid or two). I have to admit I was not a fan of the monster battles. The fights with them were short (and sometimes non-existent), and the mecha battles with them when they grew large were anticlimatic.

However, I must say that the fights with the grunts were the greatest part of the show, due to the stunt-work that was involved. Seeing Spider-man fight the grunts while hanging upside down or crawling along the wall without using anything like CGI was cool and unique.

If you're a Tokusatsu fan, this series is a great way to witness the roots of Tokusatsu and see how it influenced Toku in the future.
If you're a Spider-man fan, then this would be a great chance for you to see a Spider-man that performs stunts without overusing special effects like the current films do.

I like the Leopaldon. It resembles Daimos/Getter.
