Shougeki Gouraigan 06 released
http://wiki.tvnihon.com/wiki/Shougeki_Gouraigan_06
We get some drops of plot, but for the most part it's still goofy randomness.
Okay, I can't let this go. There's a scene where a couple with a watermelon walk in front of a green screen as the heroes argue in the background. It's so bad!
That's sort of the calling card of this show really. They break good filming practices in order to create a sense of silliness, and it doesn't really work since all it does is look silly. Like fourth wall breaking or bad camera shots while they struggle with Akiko. Yeah, the show is silly, I get that. But why can't the humor be more thoughtful? A lot of the times, it just comes off as fouth-wall breaking immersion killers.
The show's definitely entertaining, but there's also a lot of eye roll worthy moments too.
So we learn that Gou and Shinji were in love with the same woman.
Navi's back, and we learn that Gou has some shadow in him. I guess the light and shadow parts of the Hikaribito/Kageribito names are literal.
First team battle, decent enough. I liked the guy who just fell over and died.
Someone on 2chan posted an episode synopsis prediction that went 1-8 goofy shenanigans, 9-13 actual story here. I'm thinking that they're probably going to be right.

For me, this episode is a little bit funny... but no.
Gou and the others who peek Hitomi is a peeping tom . But I just don't like it.

I really enjoyed the part where they were talking about their sparkle power. That and the coloured crystals had a very Sailor Moon quality to it. I didn't expect Gou to be a peeping tom, but Geki's awkward joy at having seen "something" was hilarious. Also impostor Gan having such a shrill woman's voice was great. (^_^)

Here's a mystery for you guys. Nishi Rintaro (http://wiki.tvnihon.com/wiki/Nishi_Rintaro) Shadam, the voice of Chimatsuri Doukoku and various voices on Garo, has his credit in this episode. But what the heck did he voice/perform as? Could it have been as the imposter Hikaribito?

Two of the impostors did have voices...
I'm calling one of the plot twists being that Grandma can also see Magii and Hikaribitos.

Re: Shougeki Gouraigan 06 released
Was that really not the actress of Rin? Maybe she was just uncredited like Hijii Mika was?
I just stopped putting any real thought into the show, and instead of treating it like a toku, I'm thinking of it more of as a really weird comedy that just happens to have toku :p

Edit: What are you talking about? Rin is played by Miyaji Mao.

Sparkle power is the best power level system ever devised.
Re: Shougeki Gouraigan 06 released
Well, that was out there. But at least they remembered Navi after 4 episodes.

I just wish they would stop with the obvious 4th wall breaking. it really makes you feel dumb.
Re: Shougeki Gouraigan 06 released
I'd kind of been wondering that one myself. She's never even hinted at the possibility that she could, but I'd buy it. Granny comes across to me as the kind of person who would just nonchalantly throw it in there. In the flashback, they are in their human forms - the ones they didn't get until they were on Earth.
Granny is a bit too forgiving of them stealing the store's money, but then she doesn't seem to really be paying them.

I think being able to live in the shop is a reasonable payment. Don't view the show seriously because the characters don't. As for the flashback, I think it's easier for the crew to have the actors they already hired to play the human forms than having two new ones show up. Sure it doesn't make sense but who cares really.
Re: Shougeki Gouraigan 06 released
Oops, sorry, I meant Rian. That girl who showed up and was in Shou's first episode.takenoko wrote:Edit: What are you talking about? Rin is played by Miyaji Mao.

Re: Shougeki Gouraigan 06 released
When rewatching the episode, I noticed that the clothes store employee is also Yoshino Yumi (she plays a bunch of bit parts in Gouraigan). In this episode she plays the fish seller. She also runs over Hitomi in episodes 1-2. She's a hidden recurring character. See if you can spot her in other episodes too!
I don't know who you think is Rian though. The only unidentified Shou character is the one after Akiko, whom I don't recognize. But she doesn't look like Rian to me.
