I'm just reading the chapter, and in the Japanese version did they address Kaarasu as 女王/joou? Just curious since the Anon translation uses "queen" to address Kaarasu.
And, I don't know about anyone else, but this chapter really makes me tear up... Like many other Rita focused scenes in the TV series. And then makes me smile in the next page. Why is Rita such a lovable character? 😁💜

It does use 女王 for Kaarasu. I don't think Gokkan's rulers absolutely have to be gender neutral? Lacking any other information, queen seems like the best translation

Not the gender identity part, I'm asking because they used "王/ou" in the series to address Kaarasu. So I'm wondering why they changed that to 女王/joou in the manga... Because using just "ou" made me think if all rulers in Gokkan are addressed as just "monarch" instead of assigning a gender to the position itself like king/queen, since I'm pretty sure the reason why Rita doesn't disclose their gender has to do with Gokkan as a country being neutral. Does that make sense? 😶

I couldn't tell you either way, but I will note that the writer for this manga used "oneechan" in reference to Rita in chapter 12, so perhaps they didn't get the memo about Rita being gender neutral?

Other than that kid calling Rita "oneechan" is there any other place where Rita's gender is mistaken? If not, then...
