Re: My argument for why it should be Boomboomger
People were asking if Boon/Boom are supposed to be Vroom, but no ru in it
I was going to show them "Hey, there's a character in Sentai named Vroom..."
https://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/zenkaiger/ch ... vroon.html
But I forgot they spelled it Vroon. Toei, why are you like this??

To be fair, Toei has had way stupider romanisations. I still maintain that the secondary Rider in Build is named Claws, and that fans are insane for going alone with "Cross-Z" like it means anything whatsoever. He's a bloody dragon named クローズ, how is that not "Claws"?
Seen:
Super Sentai: Fiveman onwards
Kamen Rider: Ichigou-Skyrider, all the Heisei/Reiwa series except the American shows.
Precure: DokiDoki-Go Pri
Metal Heroes: Gavan
Other: Spiderman, Power Rangers

I didn't translate build, so I don't remember where I landed on that. But yeah, Claws does make more sense to me too. That's not much of a cross anything in Cross-Z's theming to justify that nameHowlingSnail wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 11:25 am To be fair, Toei has had way stupider romanisations. BoonBoom (and BoomBoom) sound exactly as the word 'ass' in portuguese. As someone who has portuguese as he's fist language, I'm laughing my BoomBoom off everytime I hear anything about the new sentai.

I'm on the fence about some things (mostly the suits and the mecha), but I'm already liking this more than KingOhger after their first episode, so we'll see where it goes.

Re: My argument for why it should be Boomboomger
i'm 100% in support of just changing it to BoomBoomger.
Re: My argument for why it should be Boomboomger
Any chance that the second "boom" was given an "n" to blend into the end of "ranger" like other Sentai names do and the order just got mixed up?
Says something that the question of which boom came first is even a thing.

Re: My argument for why it should be Boomboomger
Then wouldn't it be Boomboonger? That almost makes more sense
No, it's probably Toei being bad at romanization. Here's one possible explanation from a linguistic standpoint: In Japan, it's just bun bun + ger. That becomes Boonboonger, but when the n/m is followed by another consonant, the n turns into an m (it's because the n takes on a softer sound of m to make it easier to say the followup sound). So Boonboomger
This would explain why Buruun becomes Vroon in Zenkaiger. Yeah it's based on Vroom, but there's no reason to change the n to a m since there's no followup sound to soften it

Re: My argument for why it should be Boomboomger
You have my vote for Boomboomger as well. Although I do think Boomboonger has a better flow for western audiences, so I'd be happy with that as well. Toei can't Engrish, so it's usually better to ignore their attempts and go with what they likely intended instead.
Fave | Least Fave Series so far
KR: AgitΩ or Zero-One | Drive
SS: unsure | Maskman
UM: Nexus | Ultra Q
Sentai: Akiballion: Battlemaids of Akihabara | Buddha Man
Other Toku: possibly Shinigami no Ballad | probably Sci-Rop
