I @-ed you with a post about it on tumblr, Take, but in case you don't see it there, as well as for anyone else who wants to know, I saw a great Vtuber clip where the girls involved are talking about Boom vs. Boon/Bun.

tl;dr: boon/bun is onomatopoeia for car noises, like vroom vroom, and boom, as is obvious to english speakers, is an explosion. so the name's a combo pun on them being cars and Bakuage meaning explosion.

That makes sense. I wasn't sure about it since in the past, Toei used to represent vroom as buruun

Just plugging bunbun into a Japanese dictionary I get the following results:

1〔素早い回転〕whirr
2〔ハチやハエなどの羽根音，のこぎりやドリルの音〕buzz-buzz; bzz-bzz

The first one of it revving an engine seems like a good fit. But the second one almost guarantees a bee-themed pun episode at some point

in Take's defense, the activity tab counts every time someone likes your stuff or reblogs it or comments on it, so a popular enough post, or a handful of reasonably liked posts can fill that up quick, and the messages tab is apparently bugged to say you have WAY more than you do, because I've seen people saying their feeds say they have anywhere from 11 to 99+ messages and when they go to check, they have like 2 to 5.
