shoot alot of asteroids in the bonus zone. and always shoot the big ones. you get a bonus of 10.000 points if you shoot much. you could also read the magazines and manual for some hints and cheatsnoxid wrote:i can't even get tothen i stopped playing (it was last week when i got it)... maybe I'm not good with these kind of games? i mean they are HARD... to me at least...Spoiler

Re: Retro Game Challenge This Week!
I love this game! I had to import mine from play-asia though, because it doesn't seem to have any European release date yet... but that's nothing new for me. ^^;
I feel kinda spoiled from watching the show beforehand though, American Arino is really grating on the nerves! I'm used to Arino being a pleasant charismatic man with a passion for games and a good sense of humour... but Americarino is constantly saying things like "THIS IS JUST... SAD!!!" and "I'M HUNGRYYYY" and "DUUUUUUUDE".
He seems to have the opposite reactions to the real Arino too... like when you get to the boss, you feel all "nice, i'm up to the boss!", and Arino would have the same kind of reaction from reaching a milestone in the game... but Americarino just blurts out "OHHHHHHH NOOOOOO" like it's a really bad thing that you're progressing. It really breaks the mood, and there's no way to turn the voices off either. >_<
I guess it's relatively minor considering the game itself is awesome, but it's just a little annoying that people will think that's how the real Arino acts! Bad anime dubs are one thing, but dubbing a real person into someone completely worse is almost offensive.
Ah well, here's hoping it brings more publicity to the original show! Hopefully Bandai/Namco will include a voice language option in the sequel. x_x;

Re: Retro Game Challenge This Week!
Dear god, this game has consumed my soul... I beat it and I'm still playing it!
I love all the little touches to recreate 80s gaming. The engrish translations, all the inside jokes (Thank you TV-Nihon for helping me get some of the references that made it through translation), the occasional slowdowns, the misprinted game magazines that are laid out like the old mags were, even the occasional faulty cart that needed blowing into. (Though if you had to blow into the DS mic to do it, it would have been flawless)
As for kid Arino, I really dont mind his banter during the game. But maybe that's from having friends who reacted that way when they'd watch me play as a kid.

This game is freaking awesome. I do hope for the sequel to come out to the U.S.

I thought you would post something relevant rather than complaining about a post that I made 2 months ago which wouldn't bring any attention if I just edit it.

But the people who read the whole thread will see the final post with the news from Kotaku if you just editted it. Tis all I was saying.

Unless they already read it and won't bother checking it again, believing there's nothing new to look at. Can we get on topic now please?
Re: Retro Game Challenge This Week!
Too bad about the sequel. Sales of the first game were very low. It probably got pirated to hell and back like every other DS game.

Re: Retro Game Challenge This Week!
I bought a DS a week ago just so I could play this game and I love both the system and the game. The show is terrific and your doing a great job subtitling it. I look forward to future releases and in the meantime I'll be watching the old episodes over again.
