If you ever wondered what happened to Gorou-chan (Yuge Tomohisa) and Shinji (Suga Takamasa), worry no more. These two actors are starring in a movie together. Set to come out on May 21st
The premise: The two actors came to America to film a short movie... at least that was the plan.
The movie was going to be based on a script Yuge wrote. They left San Francisco to go to Los Angeles, filming and doing interviews along the way. Three days before they were supposed to be in Las Vegas, they got separated from the staff. They visit the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley. As they hitchhike they learn the true meaning of life...

Oh, I didn't translate the title? Sorry, it's "Idiots cross the sea twice". I guess it's kind of like saying going around in circles

Ooh, now I'm interested on the wacky adventures of Gorou-chan and Shinji in America, doing idiotic stuff for my own amusement. Too bad I don't have enough money (sometimes I hate being a student) to import the DVD and see it for myself.

Call me crazy, but I think this could lead up to an American version of Ryuki!
Just you wait, "Masked Rider Dragonman" is right around the corner...

Stupidity and sarcasm can be hard to differentiate without vocal inflections.

As far as I can tell, it's just a documentary, so he'd just be playing himself

Re: Ryuki 2: Baka wa 2kai umi wo wataru
It's interesting that a couple actors from Japan bummed around the US like that. If I ever bumped into an actor from one of our series, I would probably lose my **** in a really embarrassing way. I mean, it's bad enough having a random celeb meeting if you're not in an entertainment hub like LA, but for it to be a foreign actor? I think the shock would get me.
Now I work at a Uni and thanks to our architecture and some local tax incentives, lately movies have been getting filmed at or right next to my workplace. Just this Wednesday they were filming a movie right outside the door I enter to go to work. The only noteworthy person in the cast on IMDB is Ray Parks, and I think it was just location stuff. Two months ago, Clive mother****** Owen was actually at work, people actually saw him (not me tho). If I bumped into someone like him I'd be, "Oh Mr. Owen, I loved Children of Men. Good luck with your new film." But a toku actor? I think I might scream like a little child.
So yeah, it'd be interesting to see their movie. I wonder if anyone recognized them. A few years ago, before Kylie Minogue was interviewed about how unknown she was in the US. She said that she was hesitant to actually push her new record in the US because she could just hop a plane to LA and walk around anonymous and it was like vacation for her. So I suppose it might be nice for them to just bum around like this.

this means they can poke fun of dragon knight being the stars of the series it was based on...takenoko wrote:As far as I can tell, it's just a documentary, so he'd just be playing himself

That's assuming they even know or care about Dragon Knight.

Re: Ryuki 2: Baka wa 2kai umi wo wataru
Actually, the dubbed Dragon Knight has been getting quite a bit of press here as it's been responsible for the revival of several Ryuki toys, and I know that Ren voices the Dragon Knight version of himself, so it's likely that the actors know about, but I doubt they'll mention it in the documentary. But who knows? I'm gonna try seeing the movie when it does eventually come out, if only because I <3 Gorou-chan.
