SSSS.Gridman (Studio Trigger's reboot of Denkou Chojin Gridman)

Looks like manga Ultraman's not alone in getting an anime adaptation next year.

Initially announced during Anime Expo 2017 and using the commercialized naming scheme of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, a teaser just dropped for the upcoming anime.

As for naming scheme, most Americans back in 94-95 do remember Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad, an attempt made by Tsuburaya and DIC to cash in on the Power Rangers craze. In 2015, Trigger released an animated Gridman short for Hideaki Anno's Japan Animator Expo 2014.

Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad has to have been the most 90s name of anything that ever existed.

I actually think it was my favourite cheap Power Rangers hype cash in show.

I think I'll start watching the anime (or at least download it) Does anyone have any groups that they want to recommend, preferable if their translation style is similar to the way #TV-Nihon does it.

I got my episodes via d-fish. Original fansubbers were Asenshi-GJM-PAS. According to some, they're using honorifics.

Let's see,
Asenshi-GJM-PAS 720p
No honorifics. At 2:42 Gridman asks Yuta to remember his mission. The girl hears shimei and mishears it as "name" but this sub doesn't messes up or ignores it and translates it as "identity"

NoobSubs 720p
Has honorifics, but also translates it as identity

No name, but submitted by Roger. 1080p
No honorifics. Translates shimei as calling. At 3:19 there's a translator note explaining the difference between mission/full name. However the pun isn't really done right since they write down "Your calling? Like your full name?" instead of "Shimei? Like your full name?" since the joke is she assumes shimei means name instead of mission.

I dunno, it's tricky. I do like honorifics, but I think it's important to at least acknowledge that someone is mishearing or there's some wordplay involved rather than just pasting it over by rewriting the script or maybe even translating it wrong by not catching the pun in the first place.

According to the captions it is shimei as in mission that Gridman is saying.

The Asenshi releases does have honorifics as a second sub track.

Oh yeah, I see that now. Still doesn't get the shimei line right though.
