Toqger 10 departing now

Has Mio always worn patterned leggings like that? Seems like that's something she should have worn in her character focus episode.
There's that weird pinball game again. I guess they needed to introduce that to explain what they do to kill time while riding around on the train.
That monster escape was almost Wizard level
LOL, Tokacchi decides to skip the uplifting motivational speech? That's awesome. And then he shadow fights in front of the kid. "Here kid, take my sweaty towel."
"Oh, a boy" Yellow, Green, and Pink disappears from the fight.
What is going on with this episode? XD
Anyway, I'm noticing a disturbing trend with Hikari. As a background character, he seems relegated to the task of explaining what's going on to the slow trains in this linkup.

Why did Type Shadow keep doing the move that Daigo does as kyoryu red in this episode?

Typing and executing commands like that... lolz that was a nice one for Type Shadow.
Nice one for Tokacchi... *cheer* probably.

Re: Toqger 10 departing now
Hey, was there supposed to be a line of dialog at 23:57? Someone is speaking when the [redacted] appears, but the text isn't subbed. This is between "This is bad!" and "I can't see our last stop yet!"
---
Well that was an uneven episode. The first two-thirds of the episode just flew right by; I don't feel anything in the plot or the action was particularly remarkable through that part. The MOTW just fights and runs ("Wizard level" indeed), and the imagination subplot was relatively boring.
It's not until Tokacchi dies that things get interesting. I will give the writers credit, having him amend his "title" in that manner was clever. I figured they would have it nullified by having the MOTW try to give Right a title and end up confused by the color switching, something that wouldn't have been nearly as cool.
The mecha fight was well done though. We don't get too many of these night fights; having both robos out and fighting among spotlights and flames, complete with their suit lighting turned on looks absolutely amazing. Though I'm at a complete loss for why there are a bunch of spotlights among an oil refinery.

Though what Tokacchi needs are contacts. The glasses gag is getting old quickly.

Oh, the missing line is just the audio version of the episode title.
What? A gag in super sentai that's driven into the ground? But seriously, I do like the glasses gag. Maybe it's because I wear glasses and I like pushing mine up stylishly (in my IMAGINATINON at least)

This was nice. I expected ToQ-Oh to ram itself into Type Shadow and explode with it and reappear though.
Ok, Shinkenger reference spotting time!
1) What he types will come true.
Calligraphy finisher
Thought into reality, with working.
MOJIKARA! YES!
Boy losing hope with Baseball -> Kid from Shinkenger Act 4. THANK YOU!

Yeah, luckily they actually decided to run after him, instead of going "Ah fuck it, I'll do it later"takenoko wrote:That monster escape was almost Wizard level
So here's a question. How much of what's going on is actually visible to those without Imagination? They can't see the Trains, but the can see the ToQgers. And they can also see the MOTW, but can they see it when it grows big? And if they can, shouldn't Japan be concerned that a giant monster periodically shows up in a random city, has a shadowboxing match, & then explodes?
And come to think of it why do the Shadow become giant? Is it because of a Ray-gun? A watering can? A flock of one-eyed bats? What?

Like Shinkenger, they grow by themselves.
Also, people probably won't believe kids if they said that giant monsters appears sometimes and fight giant robots. Most of them will believe that they're watching too much Kaiju movies, or, why not, Super Sentai.
Would you believe someone saying that he saw a giant battle while you were seeing nothing?

Yeah, but in Shinkenger they said it was because they had 2 lives. There's no explanation given as to why the Shadow grow big after they're defeated.Mandalori wrote:Like Shinkenger, they grow by themselves.
No, that's not what I said. What I said was; can people without Imagination see the MotW when they grow big? I mean, they're perfectly visible when they're average size, so they should be visible when they grow right? And if that's the case, then to the average bystander, it should look like a giant monster is getting beaten up by nothing.Mandalori wrote:Also, people probably won't believe kids if they said that giant monsters appears sometimes and fight giant robots. I guess the darkness can do everything, from making a wedding dress to healing a monster's wound to letting them grow. And build Shadow Line tracks and stations. Which is why the need to mine more darkness from humans I guess.HarryFA1 wrote: Yeah, but in Shinkenger they said it was because they had 2 lives. And yeah, I wondered too what people can and can't see. If unimaginative people can't see the Resshas when they're on the tracks, then does that mean they don't see them when they combine either?
In the crossover though, didn't Takatora get a call about a giant robo fighting in the city?
---
Anyway, I've been loving and enjoying the season so far. It's fun and cute, the trains are awesome, there's nice sentimental nostalgia. And it's great we've seen more of the castle crew each episode. Though I'd like more.

Re: Toqger 10 departing now
I began to wonder if people in general could see TOQ-Oh and Diesel-Oh since they can't see them as trains as well.
I would ignore the crossover for this argument since they don't follow the normal rules.
I really do wish that Tokkachi did die and stay dead. I can't stand him at all.

In fact, it's possible with adults with enough imagination. Since the one to report probably know about Helheim and do know Inves, Zawame city's people probably have more imaginations than others.

Re: Toqger 10 departing now
In fact, this is a problem I have with Sentai in general. Where I feel like allot of the time, the general public doesn't acknowledge what goes on. I mean sure we'll get a scene where a bunch of screaming civilians get attacked by the MotW, but no-one's ever like; "Hey, you're those rainbow coloured superheroes everyone talks about!", or "Dude, did you checkout that sick Robot fight yesterday?"
I mean, It makes me think that all of Japan is either blind or has short-term memory loss since nobody talks about these things that should be all over the news! And that's just it, if they just had a newscast scene where they just say "be on the lookout for rampant monster attacks", then that would make everything fine. But we all know that'll never happen.

Here's my theory on why the monsters grow without any outside help: they don't need any outside help as all that's happening is them being released from their shrunken form. They are naturally big to begin with and only shrink to interact with people in order to generate darkness better.

Re: Toqger 10 departing now
With this episode, Yasuko Kobayashi has now written 200 episodes of Super Sentai (actually 200.5). She is only the second Super Sentai writer to reach 200 episodes, after Hirohisa Soda, who wrote 392 episodes. While Kobayashi's writing has been downhill for the last ten years or so, it's still cool to see her reach this milestone. She wrote some of my favorite shows and did great work from Megaranger to Timeranger.
Still, I don't think Kobayashi or anyone else will ever catch Hirohisa Soda, who is the best Super Sentai writer of all time.
(Note: I am getting my episode totals from Wikipedia, so they might not be 100% accurate. As far as I can tell, though, this episode is Kobayashi's 200th.)
