Toqger 43 departing now
Wiki: http://wiki.tvnihon.com/wiki/TQG_Station_43
That was a real good episode. It had real IMAGINATION. But seriously though, it felt like one of the older crackpot Sentai storylines. The dollhouse was used to good effect, plus it was nice to have a filming location other than out in the woods. I think the mecha fight with the suit of armor was a particularly nice bonus touch since it's so unexpected, but foreshadowed earlier in the episode.
This was also a real good Hikari and Kagura episode. We learn a little about both their backgrounds, their worries, their hopes, and I like Hikari's kendama gamble as a means of escape.
And of course, we can't ignore that something is going on with Right. So there's a little main plot stuff going on too. Pretty good way to start the new year.
The cause of this whole story is that Zett wants Right and can't have him?!
Preview: Looks exciting!

This makes me a little worried...
Yet it is a good Hikari and Kagura episode.

Right has a dad though, he's mentioned in the letter. Zett wants Right as a boyfriend!

Who knew a threw away line : "I saw a sparkle that was very similar to the ones in your eyes" , has such significance to the storyline
I really enjoy the effects in this episode. The robo fight inside the house, and Hikari's clever escape plan, it's pretty creative use of the surroundings

Humm, this episode was 20 seconds longer than usual. Very interesting. They've sometimes dropped the Train Corner segment, but only for Very Important Episodes, so this would seem to be one such episode.
Anyhow, that bit of jazz with Zett was unexpected. But it was a nice touch and a nice break from the series' usual soundtrack. It reminds me of the Pink Buster episode of Go-Busters. (Edit: and it turns out both episodes have the same director, Katou Hiroyuki)
Meanwhile I think this is the most new in-suit footage we've had of Chou Chou ToQ-Oh since it was first introduced, and while the entire premise of the dollhouse is rather contrived, I do like the outcome. Seeing the suit indoors is a nice touch from a production standpoint, as we can finally see just how large it is relative to regular objects. Or for that matter they got some great shots of just how much larger it is than the MOTW. The tradeoff is that it means that we didn't get as much spandex fighting this time around, but I'm okay with that.
Two quick cultural/language questions.

- What was Akira doing/playing at the table when Kaugura woke up from her dream?
- Is there any significance (historical, puns, etc) to the name Mori-iwadake?
Spoiler
Was that ToQ Zett?!

Re: Toqger 43 departing now
1. I thought Akira was just writing post cards. Luna, do you know what that stuff is?
2. Not really. Mori = Forest, Iwa = Rock, Dake = Peak/Mountain
I also remembered from translating Keitai 7 and some other shows that the first dream of the year is supposed to be significant in some way. So Kagura dreaming of meeting her parents only for them to not recognize her might be considered more prophetic than usual.

Re: Toqger 43 departing now
I do actually, they're special New Year's post cards called nengajo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_N ... #Postcards
Generally people send them to close family/friends/old teachers/coworkers/etc. You've got to make sure to send them before December 25th though, or they usually won't arrive on January 1st. It's okay for them to be a bit late though, and if you get one from someone you didn't send to, it's considered good manners to send one back even if it's late.
I don't know why Akira was wearing a wig though.

Thought he said okake/gamble instead of okage/thanks to. V2 released to fix this line.zeta_gundam wrote:Toqger 43

I'm almost positive it is. Got a good laugh out of it.Conan_Edogawa wrote:was the inside of that dollhouse the Greeeds' house from later in OOO?
BTW did anyone notice a slight lag between the audio and video near the end of the episode? It seemed most notible when the camera zooms in on Kagura when she is talking at 17:29.

I noticed the lag too, the audio was out of sync. I thought i was my mediaplayer, but it does it on my PC using VLC as well.
Also, that is definitely the same house as in OOO.
