Is that Tsuda Kanji as the first guest? That has to be intentional, since he was the main villain in the last series. I feel like it should bother me more, but it doesn't.

The twin Horror is great. Rian can still kick butt.

Is this the first time we've seen the Horrors get absorbed into the sword? They've always mentioned that since the first series, but I don't think they've ever made it explicit. Plus, we see Ryuuga cleaning it. It's like the great hand of Director Amemiya taking Yami wo Terasu Mono and molding it in a big "This is MY Garo series now" sign.

The cliffhanger is pretty good too. I'm surprised the Priest bought it so quickly. I thought he was going to be Rian's dad, but I also vaguely remembered that we saw her parents already.

Random trivia, they showed the Hall's ad four times after the episode. Four times! Unbelievable. And that's Mori Kanna in the Promise commercial.

Man, I really lament Kuwae Sakina's costume in the ending theme. I wish she wore something cuter and not so boyish.

I enjoyed it, I do prefer Ryuuga with his flat hair and not something that looks like its been pumped up.
Rian still looks great and holds her own against the horrors.
The armor has had some subtle changes made to it from previous seasons, but I think its good and gives the season its own unique flavor and its not just the same suit over and over again.
Priests do seem to fall to the darkside quite easily, they really should be stronger these days if they are to be fighting the horrors.

My only additional thoughts have been to the watchdogs, so if the woman with scrolls in her hair is a watchdog, but carries a priest brush, does that make her a high ranked makai priest?, unless there be some other reason, I feel that this is an area that they could expand upon at some point.

I think part of Ryume's deal is that people know her from the movie, but we're going in from just the TV show.

I sort of think the changes to the Garo armor and sword are silly. The little blades on his scabbard are silly, and I don't really see that much of a difference in the Garo armor. It just comes off as gimicky. Like Raiga's back wire stuff. He used those like once, maybe twice?

I like the fresh start to the Yami wo Terasu world. It makes it unique and different from the previous Garo series. Its more modern and gives it a different kind of feel which Kouga and Raiga couldn't do. Looking forward to Gold Storm and how it unfolds.

I already liked Ryuuga more in this one episode than I did in all of Yami wo Terasu. They’ve matured his character quite a bit and taken away almost all the brattiness and (unwarranted) cockiness he previously had. That’s not to say he’s emotionless either - I’d say he falls between Kouga and Raiga now.

The “twins” standing next to each other in their dresses - was that supposed to be a Shining reference?

I am so glad we’re back to unique designs for the Horrors. That was another of my pet peeves from Yami wo Terasu. I think there was ultimately a plot-related reason for reusing the same design elements, but I look forward to the creativity that goes into the appearance of the Horrors.

I think so. That caught me by surprise too. At first I wondered if it was going to be foreshadowing of some future plot point, but the cleansing scene was right after so I think it's safe to assume it's just a visualization of the Horror taint.

One other thing that surprised/confused me...3 Horrors a month sounds like a lot to them? I really wish we had an idea of when this is supposed to take place (or if it’s even in the same universe as the original series) because I’d say they easily fought 3 Horrors a week in the original series and follow-up works.

In the first series, Horrors appeared daily due to Barago creating Gates so he can absorb the sealed Horrors when he later appeared in the series. The second series there wasn't as much Horrors before. The third series was filled with plenty of Horrors due to the fact that Vol City was being controlled by a manipulative bastard and the Mado Horrors. The fourth series was Raiga hunting down Slab Horrors in order to seal Eliris, sometimes it was a hit and sometimes it wasn't. You just think its weird that 3 Horrors in a month is a lot because its a weekly show. I would prefer to say that the Ryuga world is in the future I believe

Hmmm, I should rephrase that. It should be 3 Horrors since the beginning of the month. I mean, she literally says "third one since the moon changed" which I thought was a plot element from the movie at first. But I think she's just being fancy with her words.

Nothing much to say about the plot, since it just started, but it has a lot of potential.

The fact that both horrors of the episode are CG is coincidence or we really going back to that? Because if it is the later, that would be even worse, considering that we have a real suit but only for the summoning part, because there is no real suit for it to interact with.

I liked this episode! I liked Ryuga's new hair. I didn't like the weird "Edwardian lace ruffle"-esque plating around the Garo armor's neck. I think it's ok he has a new scabbard with a look different from Taiga/Kouga/Raiga's.

Rian kicked ass. I think all 4 girls in the closing video should be wearing close variations of Rekka's outfit in signature colors instead of the weird mishmash they have. (Like the shortest girl could wear a cropped jacket and short skirt.)

I like the touches added like showing the sword absorbing evil. It's probably to illustrate that the sword found underground has some great evil sealed in it. Or did.

It'll be nice if they explain Watchdogs vs Makai Priests. The way I had been thinking of it was that certain high level priests got invested as permanent sentinels at key locations. And some of them got power boosts making it so they didn't need to use their brushes anymore; then again some of them may just have had powers that didn't need a brush, perhaps divination specialists or something. (I don't want to use the events of series 1 as justification because they could easily toss that at this point since many of their concepts have expanded.) We didn't even have a watchdog in Vol City in Yami, that crusty old Makai Priest was the one who conjured orders up and sent them out. (Which is perhaps why Ryuga was so irritated when he showed up and found out who had really summoned him to the city.)

Can someone clarify something to me , horrors know makkai knight exist and they sure as hell know Garo , so why t hell they even try to fight when they see the red sword ? why not just run away imdiatelly

I like it. Right off the bat we are introduced to the enemy duo of the show even before we see the hero. The fight sequence is still awesome. Ryuuga and Rian makes a good team, and I like how we got to see two different Horrors in one ep, leading to that fun cliffhanger.

The main plot seems interesting from what little hint we got. One powerful MacGuffin split in two. Let's do this.

Yes, the out suit action was good.

BTW, now that you mention the two girls. I know they are twins and all but... isn't the picture in the wiki the same for both girls? I mean, they can't be soo alike XD.

Now I'm putting all my high expectations on this season. Since disappointed by Raiga stories.

It's a good start. And love the action as well.

LOL, that's what being twins are dude. I can see some minor differences, but they're going to look the same otherwise. They share the same birthday, so I think they're real twins.
