Looks like last week's got a solid 4. Pretty good for Wakusaver?
Ooh, is this the Wakusaver base?
What's g reen holding?
The Wakusavers are so wet
Red's backstory reminds me of the start of Ultraman Towards the Future
Red's name is Yuuki???
Everyone on this show groans so much
Looks like we're getting a budget Purapiinu this season. It's just limply sitting in pink's arm
Rajura's pretty fun. I'd totally watch her as a villain in a Toei sentai. I enjoy when they subvert sentai tropes, so it was funny seeing green get smacked out of his transformation sequence.
Wasn't the best, but far from being unentertaining either. I appreciated the effort spent on story and character 4/5 stars
Edit: Okay, one nitpick. Rajura being in the WakuseiBase (haha, get it? Wakuseibaa is the Japanese pronunciation?) should have been a much bigger deal. If she can get in there, why is she announcing herself and giving up her game instead of going around Assassin's Creeding those guys in bed or whatever? It's clearly the middle of the night, since most of them were sleeping until her pet tapir woke them up with nightmares

Re: Wakusaver Season 2 Ep 02 released
Wow is this a series power up! An actual base? More locations than that run down factory? An uninterrupted story line? This (with the exception of the ass shots) feels fairly close to being legit.
They finally realized that if you want people to remember a character's untransformed name you need to repeat it a dozen times in an episode (like in Tenchi Muyo).
The hand puppet is starting to feel out of place.
Could they have a Dinnovater/Wakusaver cross over special based on a ballet theme?
I think Pink is growing into her role. She seems more self confident this time.

Because that's what tokusatsu villains do? Or maybe Rajura got there and thought to herself "OMG, I can totally pwn all of them by myself in their sleep, but that would waste all the time and effort I spent on making my MOTW. Oh well, it will be more fun to torture them first because there is absolutely no way my plan can fail. Also, they will taste better when I eat them if they died in despair rather than died in their sleep."takenoko wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 2:45 pm Okay, one nitpick. I only now realized that the individual posing scenes the opening sequence have changed locations from that warehouse thingy to an open space

Re: Wakusaver Season 2 Ep 02 released
This episode definitely had more ambition than anything the series did in season 1. It doesn't fully stick the landing, but there's some clear effort being made to put together a more complex narrative, and not rely on fight footage alone to drive the plot forward. It's something that Wakusaver dearly needs to do if it wants to get better; the writing wasn't living up to the concept in season 1.
The runtime on this episode also helps a lot. 13 minutes is still only about 60% of the length of a Sentai episode, but having a few extra minutes for exposition makes such a huge difference. Granted, ideally you want to show-not-tell, especially in Sentai. But you still need to set aside some time for exposition to help keep the plot on track.
Ambition does need to be paired with skill, however, and that's where this episode suffered a bit. The big problem, as Takenoko noted, is that there's no good reason for Rajura to show up in the base and spill the beans. Even with Sentai tropes here, the MOTW typically doesn't monologue about the plan until it's been fully enacted. In this case there's no reason to expect that Gideath would only screw with 3 of the Wakusavers, especially as they could have easily had all 5. The pacing near the beginning is also a bit off; I feel like this episode dwells on repeating the nightmares a bit too much before moving on to the next act.
Otherwise, making it a multi-parter is an interesting choice. Given that there are only 4 episodes this season, I'm assuming this is our big arc for the season, and the next two episodes will be similarly focused on advancing and wrapping up this story. It's a bit risky for such a short show, but it works well enough here. However Giga will need to make sure the other episodes can deliver on what this setup; serialization means that if your ending bombs, your setup was wasted.
On which note, is it me, or is she speaking a bit deeper this season? It fits the character a bit more (and helps to avoid her sounding like a JAV actress, a problem Pink had in season 1), but at the same time it comes off as a bit unnatural to me.

I like that they have a base. The fact that people are just randomly sleeping in computer rooms (and in beds, no less!) is a bit odd, however. For such a large building, a nap room or two would be called for.
Well, it is a porn company... (But I do agree, it was excessive)Everyone on this show groans so much
She's certainly the most developed of the villains. Which I suppose isn't too surprising since she's the show's other adult actress. I'm not wholly convinced she's a good fit for the role - good Sentai villainesses tend to be charismatic - but she also hasn't had a lot to do up until now. In fact, I'm fairly sure this is the most she's ever spoken in a single episode.Rajura's pretty fun. I'd totally watch her as a villain in a Toei sentai.

It definitely sounds deeper to me. Probably to avoid making it obvious that she's the voice of Purapiinu too, which sometimes will appear in scenes directly after hers
