Fontaine 01 released

Hmmm, granny seems sus

LOL this violin music

She found Luna already. Why does she look around like she hears the musical cue too?

They're watching Wakusaver

Watch out, Yuuka is a hoarder. What is that poster on the left in her room??

The mascot is kind of cute at least

That's a Sailor Moon broach

How does she know the thing to say? LOL, those CGI ribbons. Not quite as good as SM is it

The cape effect is cool, well, half cool. Wish we could see the cape appear

Who's this mad scientist looking guy? LOL he pulls out a beaker

The monster is kind of cute? But why a fork at the end of a needle?

That commercial was hilariously awkward

It's weird that it's taking her so long to ansewr the call to action considering how brisk the pacing was at the beginning. I guess this wouldn't be GIGA without some parts dragging unnecessarily

Yes, muffle your catchphrase into your cape. Very good

Huh, while the acting isn't great, this action is admittedly better than what they had in PGSM. Fontaine's got some good kicking action going on. All of them are pretty good except the horse kick against the wall, and even then that's fair since it's hard to kick someone behind you

Wait, where did the poison guy go during the mook fight? Did he just wander off stage and wander back on?

lol, I'm amazed she rolled on that table without it collapsing

The motw fight isn't so good. It doesn't help that he keeps threatening her withthe fork, but doesn't ever try to stab her with it. Then proceeds to use his fork/injector as a blunt instrument

LOL, why is granny with the razor the most threatening thign

Looks like she becomes sherlock in the next episode?

Gotta admit that I wasn't super into the magical girl setting, but the costume is nice and I did enjoy the action in the middle. I hope the teacher's not dead since she was cute looking when angrily throwing the chalk. Not having watched Poitrine, my closest comparison is to watching PGSM. Maybe not a hot take, but this was more entertaining, at least to me

Just checking the schedule, looks like this will be a 4 episode series, the last one being on Christmas Eve. Break on New Year's Eve, which is fine anyway because Episode 5/Another Story will be the porn I'm guessing which will be released next year

Sailor Moon's lawyers called, they want... everything back.

Trite plot, rather terrifying plushie and lackluster acting aside (except for Dad who seemed uhh... wayyyy too excited to take a bath with his teenage daughter) it's actually kinda decent. The action was pretty damn awesome actually. As takenoko mentioned, it far outstrips PGSM, which was mostly twirls around and rarely got any actual *fighting* done. The CM insert actually made me snort-laugh.

Quick question though, what on earth does being the student council president have to do with being able to catch a piece of chalk midair? I must've rewound that line like 10 lines to check that yes, that is what she said, cause it's such a non-sequitur.

That seems a tribute series to Bishoujo Kamen Poitrine. Besides, like Poitrine, Fontaine is also a French word. It is surely no coincidence. And the costume is pretty similar too.

Anyway, if GIGA could give Toei some ideas, that would be cool. It's a shame that there are only 4 episodes because there is potential to make an official 50 episodes series like Toei did for PGSM. But I know GIGA won't do that because thet just want to promote a DVD. But they also produce series like Yatsurugi or Triple Wing that contain several seasons with more than ten episodes each.

I still find incredible the efforts they put in to make an opening of such quality. I can't help but be admiring in some way.

I was happy that Giga used the catch phrase "<something else> might forgive you but I will not" that was used in Poitrine. It also looks like they are going to use the "cosplay a profession to gain the profession's powers trick" as well.

If they use the "Fontaine's love interest could be part of the evil organization" trick I will be 3 for 3!

The only tell so far that this was made by a pr0n company was that in the last scene the motw had his leg between Fontaine's legs.

As Takenoko has mentioned, wow, there are a lot of extras!

Too bad they could not have shot two separate transformation scenes, but reusing stock footage for transformations is right out of the sailor moon handbook.

Hopefully they will have a later fight where the mooks get to show some personality.

It would be funny if one of the school boy extras has a habit of doing drawings in a sketch book. Or, if another one of the boys proclaims that his goal is to be friends with everyone in the school.

Since Sawamura Yuuka is student counsel president, it would also be funny if the student counsel was four girls and one boy like Seitokai no Ichizon.

The mook fight was a step up, MotW fight kind of on par with what we've had before, good theme song... The acting was okay and the teacher was the best looking female in the cast (which is pretty sad since the lead is an AV actress), but did the sound guy forget to unwrap the microphone? I swear, the worst part of this show so far (even worse than yet another plushie mentor) was the sound quality.

I honestly don't get what's up with Giga. It always seems like they fix one shortcoming, then slip on something else.In this case, they improved some of the fighting, the music, (slightly) longer episode length, and did a pretty good job on costumes, but completely flopped on sound quality and casting a lead who can act. In the end, this felt like an installment of the TOEI Fushigi Comedy franchise for all the wrong reasons. Although it's always rather fitting to see a porn actress become a magical girl, since Pai Pai's actress went on to do porn.

Let's be honest, no one here was cast for their acting ability, least of all the leads

It looks like the first week youtube number for Fontaine was not very good. They only got 49K views. The first week of Wakusavers season 2 has 324K views after 6 weeks, the last week has 121K views after three weeks. Maybe it will pick up steam as the other episodes are released, but it would still have a long way to go.

To be fair, Poitrine is far less well known than sentai so it's not a big surprise more people would watch a Sentai parody than a Poitrine parody

I took that to mean that Dad was aware that they were in a pr0n parody universe, and was thus trying to take "advantage" of that.

Between that and the fact that they were watching Wakusaver, it seems like Giga's starting to go a little meta.

I always wonder why this seems to be a thing in anime too. I definitely bathed with family as a kid, but definitely stopped when we grew up

I'd put it down to the popularity of public baths and hot springs in Japan leading to less awkwardness in co-bathing, but most of those public places don't offer co-ed rooms.

Poitrine was the only hero/heroine from the TOEI Fushigi Comedy Series to be made official canon by having her appear in Kamen Rider. However, a lot of KR fams probably don't even remember that brief appearance, so I'm betting Giga simply decided to parody that particular show more for the fact that it was a shōjo similar enough in themes to popular franchises such as Sailor Moon while not having a huge cast to deal with.

I mean, even I know about Poitrine. Meanwhile, I only recently learned that Poitrine was part of a series of heroine toku shows that didn't ever get any steam. It's like fushigi something? Who knows why some things get popular while other things kind of languish on the side
