Oh hi Kagerou

Good guy Tamaki comes with ice cream. Don't be sad, if your relationship with her is purely transactional, it probably wasn't super healthy to begin with

Why is there just a sign with a big burned wa on it

Random that it's Karizaki's father's death day

Looks like spoilers for the winter movie

"hmm, the kids might be sad that one of the characters died. Let's not check to see if he survived and distract them with a comedian episode"

Oh Tamaki, with the ice cream hands

Nice, Zero-One

Little brother (I forget the name) don't stay in an organization where the boss doesn't care if you die or go missing

Cheap bee effect to show Aguillera is coming

Maybe this is a late observation, but it's weird that FeniX aren't directly in charge of sending Ikki after the Deadmans

Oh right, his name is Daiji. Good thing they put him to use guiding people away

Oomori-zaka location spotted

One stamp set up Vice to need the other stamp, suspicious. Oh Karizaki wasn't behind this obvious beserker mode (What is this? Three series in a row that used this mechanic?)

Oh okay, so this mode puts Vice in charge. Okay, points for making that interesting. I just hope this isn't a step back in the development of Ikki and Vice's relationship. It feels like they just built a trusting bond a few weeks ago

A fun episode, but kind of all over the place? It doesn't continue at all with the Hiromi stuff from last week, and the Karizaki's dead father thing doesn't play into this week's story at all (maybe it will next week?). Why were Daiji and the doctor hanging out? They barely had anything to say to each other. Have they even said her name yet in the show yet? Sorry Weekend, your plotline is relegated to Sakura's thoughts this week. The story is spread so thin across all the characters

obviously we'll have to wait and see what happens with the story from here, but, on a purely aesthetic level, this new form is the coolest suit since Metal Cluster Hopper, and I think I actually like this one more.

also, a toy reviewer I watch pointed out that we should've know the stamp was evil to begin with on account of the paint splotches on it, since messy paint like that was Kagerou's whole aesthetic as Evil.

Long time no see, Kagerou! Nice to have you back. Even though the appearance was... Brief

What kind of answer is that, Orteka? The driver asked whether you're a demon or not, and not about what your goal is.... What is Orteka even doing in a mannequin warehouse/store? Does Toei want to represent scary/creepy things by putting the villains in mannequin stores/warehouses? First Yodonna, and now Orteka?

Well, well. Looks like Tamaki's devotion is actually scoring him dates with Aguilera. Will we be seeing a couple on the villains' side for the first time (I don't know if it's happened before in Kamen Rider or not, but it's the first time for me)? Oops, spoke too soon. That was so mean of Aguilera, stomping on Tamaki's feelings and heart like that. But she's a villain after all..... 😔🙁☹️ Where does Tamaki get the money for this stuff though?

I'm guessing this episode takes place after the Beyond Generations movie...? Sure makes it hard to understand whatever's going on with the Neo Batta Vistamp without having watched it yet.... 😶😑😐

Still no follow-up regarding the dad's missing heart.... Is that even an important storyline?

I understand Vice's disappointment about the dad not doing his part, but he's switched to full-time YouTuber/whatever they call it in their world.

Vice in a comedic duo... Definitely interested to see how that turns out. But he's definitely more inclined towards being a solo comedian than being in a duo...

KR Jeanne in the OP for the first time! But man did they take long to add her to the OP, even though she debuted about 10 episodes earlier!! 🤨🧐😒😤

.....And Ikki and Vice passed even before they did anything. Are the writers even trying here? I don't know how that judge's sense of humor is but I did NOT find that, whatever they did to be funny. But the fact that they passed without putting any effort is kinda funny in itself.

Is the naked dude oversleeping and making that face supposed to be funny? Cuz I definitely couldn't laugh at that....

Oh, hello sobbing Tamaki with melted ice cream all over hand.... Does ice cream melt quickly even in winter?

A sobbing Tamaki trying to wipe his tears with ice cream in his hands and consequentially smearing ice cream on his face- now that's something funny!

The red Deadman looks like a hammerhead, and is the blue one an elephant...? I'm not sure though.

So they really couldn't use any other references to Zero-One for Vice's dialogue apart from the "Aruto Janaito" catchphrase?

Gotta love the cool fight VFX from Zero-One...

Looks like now we definitely know that Hiromi is gonna be back in the series. Hopefully soon. But Daiji couldn't do as much as to go look for Hiromi himself, immediately after he fell from the cliff? That's how much he cares about Hiromi? Ugh.... 😑😑😶😶

Wait, are they gonna promote Daiji to the commander's position? Seriously, that incompetent dude, replacing Hiromi to lead the Fenix? I admit that I didn't like Hiromi at first, but Daiji sure as heck ain't even halfway there to be good enough to lead the Fenix. Even though Fenix surely has something super shady going on...  But it would be a perfect opportunity to do some investigation regarding the truth about Fenix...  🤔🤔  Although, I wish Hiromi was doing the investigation instead of quitting. Don't blow this, Daiji.... 🧐

Hey, the super attractive doctor is back.... Yep, something is up with her too... But why is she offering bitter black coffee to the guy who can't even stand spicy food... ? I doubt he'll be able to handle the bitter black coffee... But it looks like they didn't bother to let us find out.... Lol. 😅😝😆

Am I the only one who is suspecting the Kūki Kaidan duo to be the 2 Deadmans who Ikki and Vice fought?

Why is Ikki trusting that guy claiming to work for Fenix so easily? That guy could literally be anyone! Why would George even make a guy deliver it to them instead of handing it over to him directly? He always gives stamps to him directly! The delivery part alone is enough to suspect that random Fenix guy....

How did I just know that Sakura was gonna ask about Tamaki staying with them the moment I saw her approach Ikki? 😑😑😐😐😶🙄 But does this mean that Tamaki will now pursue Sakura instead of Aguilera? What is up with side characters moving in with the main characters in the recent Toei Tokusatsu series? First Zenkaiger, now Revice....  And shouldn't Sakura's parents be more careful about not letting a male friend of their teenage daughter move in with them, given that the dad was worried about Sakura even when she was NOT dating her neighbor? I get Yatsude allowing people to move in with them since Kaito is a boy (Even though I find the thing about Stacy moving in with them equally worrisome.... For some unknown reason 😶🙄😐😑😓)

Sakura nods eagerly trying to convince her parents.... clears throat.... 🙄😶 and then gut punches her dad when he suspects if the guy is her boyfriend or not... blink, blink 😐

Ok, that bath joke was kinda funny.... But unfortunately, the judges were not watching this time.

Why is Vice throwing jokes at the camera? Is the camera even filming anything?

Shouldn't they have asked Daiji to help them out instead of getting people to safety? People are good at running away from danger, you know? You don't gotta escort them.... Speaking of which, why doesn't Daiji have backup Fenix soldiers this time? He usually has backup with him whenever he comes to fight....

Oh, so that's what the scene in the OP was about..... Cool. It's basically the Kamen Rider Evil version for Vice(is that why Kagerou appeared at the beginning of this episode?). I hope they make a mode like this for Sakura too. Although it would be stupid to have that stupid half-@$$ed cobra taking over Sakura's body. But still, they should give KR Jeanne at least one power-up mode!

..... And that Rolling Vistamp was NOT made by George.... Great.

Nice twist, but took 'em long enough. The new mode is great. But dang, are these demon dudes always so strong without their human counterparts around? In that case, I might just be interested in seeing how that stupid cobra is when it's in control.

Now I'm wondering, can't Daiji and Kagerou be outside at the same time, similar to how Sakura and her demon and Ikki and Vice can be outside simultaneously? Or does Daiji hate Kagerou so much that he isn't willing to cooperate with him anytime soon? Dude, talk about a stupidly under-developed second Rider... 😑😶😐🙄 I wonder if he'll ever understand that to be a stronger Rider, he has to learn to cooperate with his demon instead of suppressing and fighting with it all the time....

This episode wasn't so good, but the ending was cool. Hopefully, the next episode is better than this one. Seeing Vice run wild might be more fun than expected... Who knows?

Did she have the bee effect thing before? Inventing new things like this doesn't really make her any better in anyway...

Sad, that's what the second Rider has to do in this show. Guide people....  Has there ever been a second Rider as pathetic as him? Don't second riders usually have good personalities in Kamen Rider?

Yeah, they literally built a trusting bond a few weeks ago. That's when Ikki started letting him out without the driver.

Oh, right....! They haven't said the doctor's name yet.....  What kind of important doctor doesn't have their name mentioned in their 4th(or is it the 3rd) appearance in a show?
takenoko wrote: Sat Feb 12, 2022 11:09 pm Sorry Weekend, your plotline is relegated to Sakura's thoughts this week.
Wait, then Sakura didn't go inside the house at the end of the previous episode? Then why was she even standing there?

I'm a fan of Kuki Kaidan and they really didn't use the duo well. Mogura (the naked dude) usually does the slob schtick (he's pretty much the same in real life apparently) while his partner is the straight man. Their King of Conte sketch was absolutely hilarious and frankly they're pretty wasted here. I think the Dragon Ball game app cm used them better and that was only like 30 seconds

>Still no follow-up regarding the dad's missing heart.... Is that even an important storyline?

Normally I'd complain that storylines are poorly plotted and come out of nowhere. Here, things are so well seeded that they get like no time to be meaningful within the context of any individual episode. I don't know if this writer is a genius for keeping 20 plates spinning at one time, or a fool for keeping the plate spinning for 2 seconds before it falls down and he has to reset it. Not working for me personally, I think this story could be interesting if we could focus on any one bit of it, but it's so all over the place

>KR Jeanne in the OP for the first time! But man did they take long to add her to the OP, even though she debuted about 10 episodes earlier!! 🤨🧐😒😤

Oh, I didn't even notice that. I saw the director's in there though

>.....And Ikki and Vice passed even before they did anything. Are the writers even trying here? I don't know how that judge's sense of humor is but I did NOT find that, whatever they did to be funny. But the fact that they passed without putting any effort is kinda funny in itself.

Yeah, those jokes were lame

>Looks like now we definitely know that Hiromi is gonna be back in the series. Hopefully soon. But Daiji couldn't do as much as to go look for Hiromi himself, immediately after he fell from the cliff? That's how much he cares about Hiromi? Ugh.... 😑😑😶😶

See, this stuff is lazy. Why can't they find his body? Did it fall in a river and get carried away?

>Am I the only one who is suspecting the Kūki Kaidan duo to be the 2 Deadmans who Ikki and Vice fought?

My theory is that the Kuuki Kaidan assistant is the one behind the Deadmans, since she can't stand their sloppiness anymore

I wonder if we'll see that guy again

>Sad, that's what the second Rider has to do in this show. Guide people....  Has there ever been a second Rider as pathetic as him? Don't second riders usually have good personalities in Kamen Rider?

Back in the day, the second rider was the secret star of the show. Able to have the darkness and conflict that the vanilla main protagonist couldn't

>Wait, then Sakura didn't go inside the house at the end of the previous episode? Then why was she even standing there?

I think she did, but she didn't make a decision to join or not

>I wonder is that new vice stamp is from weekend, since last time Sakura's driver is from them as well

That's a good theory, but ultimately it's hard to care about it since we don't know what their motivations are or why they're doing the things they're doing. Then again, it's hardly a decision if FeniX is just nakedly evil. I guess some alternate is better than nothing

I actually rather enjoyed this episode for many of the reasons others seemed to not like it.

I'm a little outdated on my Japanese comedians, so a lot of the shtick this episode mainly just reminded me of Yasumura and Downtown. I did like the way the judge thought Vice was a human doing an oni routine, though. It's something Western audiences aren't likely to get, considering setsubun has become so obscure even in mainstream Japanese culture, but I thought it was well-played.

I have a feeling the vistamp holders will prove to be none other than Kūki Kaiden themselves. It's a pretty old trope for rising stars to suddenly burn out and fake victimhood to draw attention. The fact that everyone wasn't badmouthing the duo so much as complaining that they changed after hitting it big throughout the episode really stuck out like a sore thumb. It's also highly likely that it's only one member of the duo teaming up with the agent for the same reasons.

I feel so bad for Aguillera, and it seems like she's pushing Tamaki away for his protection, not out of snobbiness. I'm pretty sure she's been planning this "team-up" with Olteca for a couple episodes now.

And speaking of planning, I really appreciate how blatent they made it for the audience that we're hitting an evil Driver upgrade arc. First, you have George taking time off but giving Ikki a new vistamp. This establishes his absence. Then, Rando appears and hands over a new Driver upgrade. He claims it will help with Vice's recent problems. Meanwhile, it's pretty obvious the upgrade was from the Director and it's confirmed a little too late that George had no idea of its existence, unlike Sakura's Driver, which was a discarded prototype.

I'm also really glad to see some subtle back burner action. Ikki's dad is reacting to Gifu's awakening, as is Vice, but they only bring up his heart when something big is happening with Gifu to ensure there's a subconscious connection between the two. And Sakura's with her friends (Hey! Where's Angelina's character? And will these poor girls ever get character names?) daydreaming about Weekend to not only establish some continuity with Sakura's personal life but also to remind the viewer that the whole Weekend thing isn't forgotten.

Honestly, the way they're drawing out Sakura's decision is what they should have been doing in every show since Ryūki. Normally, the writers establish a moral dilemma only to have the character shrug their shoulders and jump headlong into a major choice the very next episode. The fact that Sakura's carefully weighing her decision shows she's probably the smartest Rider in a couple decades (Ryūki doesn't count, since his indecision was based more on kumbaya than deep thinking).

And finally, we have the tiresome trope of the evil Driver upgrade. Just like the evil sentai clones trope, this one's been done so often you could filter water with it. But they're taking an interesting new twist this time. Vice has been slowly gaining more freedom to the point he was even allowed to taste food with his own... whatever's under that mask. He's forming a deeper bond with Ikki and his family and no longer wants to eat them. But this change is likely why he's reacting to Gifu so badly - he's forgetting what it is to be a demon.

Now, someone * coughDirectorcough * suddenly has a Driver upgrade delivered that reverses Ikki and Vice's status, with Ikki now seemingly incorporeal and Vice having his physical form without restriction. It's all about corrupting Vice to make him act like a demon again by reminding him of the pleasures of having no rules. The appearance of the roller upgrade also seems to coincide a little too well with the Demons Driverdata being fully collected two episodes ago.

Which reminds me... We all know Hiromi will return, but I have a feeling when he does, he won't be human. The Director was encouraging the use of the Demons Driver to gather data, but Hiromi literally survived his final battle after offering his life to the Driver. I have little doubt he should have died, but willingly giving himself to the demon to feed off of seems to have had some sort of consequence. And since Hiromi's demon was destroyed back in the first episode, there may be a setup for him to come back as a demon himself, sort of like how in Hollywood, letting a vampire feed off of you will turn you into another vampire. If so, the Director and others discouraging anyone from looking for Hiromi's body may be a lot more sinister than it first seems.

It's just weird with all the events that happen in the last episode with Olteca has the Demons Driver, Hitomi gone, and Fenix's command ship crashed that it barely registered in this episode and was business as usual. I don't think you want to be the commander of Fenix since it's just a death trap so Daiji is going to die at some point.

I want to point out that the credits removed Hiromi and just have the Director as the Commander of Fenix before showing George. Also Weekend replaced the Deadman trio along with shots of Live, Demons, Jeanne, and Volcanic ReVice.

I just realized this- the last couple of episodes didn't have the opening sequence, right? As we can se some changes in the sequence this time around, it could be said that the changes would've come earlier had the last episodes incorporated the opening

Do the other two comedian groups featured have any real-life significance too? Or are they just common actors?
