Carranger - Imo Yokan question

I just finished Gekisou Sentai Carrange. Overall, I liked it. It worked for it was, basically Super Sentai making fun of itself. There's one thing I'm wondering about. The Bowzack must eat fresh hand-made Imo Yokan in order to grow. Cheap machine-made Imo Yokan will make them shrink instead. Was that supposed to be some sort of social commentary, or were they just being silly?
In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two seperate, yet equally important groups: The police, who investigate crimes, and the giant robots, who do battle with the bad guys' giant robots. These are their stories.

Being silly. Yokan's not really a thing you make at home, even for the older generation
