There are some goofy bits (dramatic clothes changing and over the top expressions) but overall pretty cool. I'm glad they made it

Cheetah found an even better Ryu vs Ken fan movie. The production values aren't as high, but man, the choreography is so much better. Check it out!

I also like the slower pace in the Beginnings End. It helps set the mood a lot better. Legacy's cuts made it feel rush rush rush.

I still find it a shame that people are obsessed with two of the most boring characters in Street Fighter, but the result is a pretty nice production. The fighting is pretty convincing (it's kind of neat to have them fighting out on muddy ground, so whenever they land a kick the other guy gets grubby), and the special effects are nicely done. Also, authentic hadouken spam.

Maybe if they do another it'll be time to get oiled up...

Well, Street Fighter has such a massive cast right now that it's never going to be possible to please everyone. Of course, this is super easy for me to say since Ryu is my favorite character

I like Legacy a lot more. Choreography may be more complex on the other video, but Legacy did everything else better: atmosphere, characterization, soundtrack, etc...it just feels more natural.
That, and Ken's bad wig on Beginnings End threw me off completely.

it's so funny that you post Beginnings End. I was wondering to myself "what if Brendon Huor starred as Ryu?" Then Takenoko posts this. I think Ken is played by Shawn Bernal.

Beginnings End was far more enjoyable. A better story with choreography only lacking decent clothes.

Ryu's bushy eyebrows in Legacy threw me off as well. XD

I have to scratch my head when you guys talk about characterization and story for 5 minute videos with 5 seconds of dialogue. I mean, they're both good, but if the bulk of it is choreographed fighting, I'm going to have to say I preferred Beginning's End

I mean, Legacy's fighting is a lot like how toku does it, with obviously slow motions that are sped up to make it look fast. But when they impact, there's this pause and posing which kind of take you out of the moment. Beginning's End had a wider range of techniques and it was just a lot smoother

We don't want just action; there has to be some kind of interaction between the characters.

Right, an action movie/video game with no story is basically no good. We need the story to care about why characters are fighting.

But... this is Street Fighter, and we know who these guys are. Legacy's characterization amounts to speaking in Japanese, then speaking in English and sounding totally different. Let's say a total outsider comes into this, this Japanese guy has a dream, then wanders around, then he sees a guy and they start fighting. All we know is that these two knew each other an haven't seen each other in a while. Rewatching it, the fireball shoulder block and Ryu's punch that leaves him standing their posing is strange

Beginning's End, established their relation as training partners, fighting one last round before parting. (I really like the Round titles) We see their tenacity as they go from round to round, finally when the match is over they do a fist bump to show they're friends

It's bizarre how similar the videos are, but Beginning's End just has the edge overall for me
