Re: Shinkenger 17 released
i watched Shinkenger again after a while, and i hear this word:
[on the terms of speed, it's faster than fencing (supiido dake nara, kenjutsu wa maru)]
AFAIK, the word ken means sword, and jutsu means technique, but why Takenoko translate it as Fencing?

Can't fencing be used to describe swordsmanship or sword technique?

Re: Shinkenger 17 released
Dai means big and jo means tall and bu means husband, so why do people translate daijoubu as 'alright'?!
Compounds can alter meaning. One has to take a certain amount of contextual interpretation when dealing with these things otherwise you'd only use the word 'swordsmanship' as a translation of 剣人船. And that's not a thing :V

Re: Shinkenger 17 released
well yeah you can, but is there like, i don't know, a special reason as to why use word fencing rather than word any swordsmanship/sword technique?takenoko wrote:Can't fencing be used to describe swordsmanship or sword technique?

Re: Shinkenger 17 released
Not really. Just another term to talk about the art of using swords
