Any Korean Tokusatsu?

Post by Shanneene »

Does anyone know of any Korean Tokusatsu series around? It would be interesting if there were any, and if they were any good.

There's a Korean tokusatsu series called Gunblade (Directed by Sakamoto Koichi), which will air this year.

As for me, i'm not interested on that.

Wow, that show looks amazing! I hope someone subs it. I'm assuming some site like viki will sub it, because there are heaps of people subbing krama over there. It's not kdrama, but for the simple fact that it's Korean, might be all the reason they need. But the thing that makes me cringe is when I read the info on the youtube page, "Is planned to air in Europe and the United States by January of 2016." When stuff airs in America, it makes it extremely difficult for people in Australia to watch online, as they usually slap a big huge 'copyright' on it. I'm hoping that before it airs in America and Europe, that someone subs it, and I can download and watch that way. It looks good enough, I would even buy it. I probably won't buy it if it's unsubbed, or if an American company decides to ruin it by adding an English dub. I've always been a purist where that type of stuff is concerned, and will only watch it if it's in the original audio with English subtitles.

I've actually been watching this little number on YouTube called Biklonz. It's been out for a while, and it's a bit more Sentai, but the mechs are a lot smaller. It's still pretty good. Just wish they thought to put in some English subtitles. Here's the intro for season 1:

And I'm gonna list both episodes 1 and 2, as each episode is only around 8 minutes long or so.

The character designs are kind of bland. But the mecha designs look okay.

Yeah, the human characters are about the same level as Cubix, so no fault there. The siblings get different mechs in season 4 based on ice age animals, like the dire wolf, great elk and mammoth.

Legend Heroes is only 12 episodes in, but it is fantastic!! The suits are great, very strong variations on a theme. The special effects are no Big Brother Toei, but it has a lot of heart and great drama/comedy balance (imo). Please check it out :D

Throwing my vote in for Legend Heroes~

We're now 42 episodes in, and while it feels like a mash-up of a bunch of different things, it's also easy to tell that the writer(s) know what the tropes are and how to use them! Bring tissues, just in case...

I found this weird piece of bootleg. In 1990, Korea made a unofficial sequel to Flashman in the form of a movie. Now Flashman was VERY popular in Korea, since it was the first Sentai ever released there. The film in question is called Hero Flashman (지구방위대 영웅후레쉬) It's pretty rare, but you can review some clips here: http://blog.naver.com/j4you3/140094346975
Some would sell their soul for Rock n' Roll, I'd sell mine to get Ninja Captor subbed.
