Tsuyoshi is more a chickenman than a pheasant. Why did he back out of his wife's big award thing? So lame

Wow, the haircut of Tsuyoshi's coworker... It's nearly a pageboy haircut

Blue and yellow asking the audience's questions

Again, what an interesting casting choice for the villains.

Oh shit, power has changed Tsuyoshi

Hospital security, there's a man walking around the hospital with a lance

Why is Inoue concerned with points? Is he interested in NFTs?

Man are the cubes from Jyuoh cheap looking

Interesting that the points are called kibi-points. Kibi dangos were the food that Momotarou used to bribe the animals into helping him fight oni in the fairy tale

Well, there's our plot such as it is. What do people think?

Edit:
Neat, the guy hitting on Sononi is Wakizaki Tomohito, who was Agent K in Ultraseven X and Daigo in the Garo series

This series is so fucking great. Like. I'm still mad about about black and pink's cgi. But other than that. This series' plot is just great just awesome. It reminds alot Jetman Episode from Gokaiger. i dunno why. if the entire series is going to be like this, i'm 100% for it.

I have no negatives to say about this episode it was all soo good.

Can I ask, are these threads posted somewhere else beforehand? Cause I know takenoko's post was on Sunday but the thread only got posted today. I ask because I've usually forgotten what I thought of the episode by Wednesday.

So Kaito's the admin, right? The talk of points and admin though makes me wonder if maybe this world is a simulation. Like, they're all stuck in the Matrix. Maybe "Kaito" isn't actually Kaito, it's God from Zenkaiger that's still taking his form.

Nice to get some exposition at last, including the name of the Nouto.

6 episodes in I've finally caved, and ordered the Donblaster, Buckle and current mecha. Not that they've been using their mecha much, which is nice. Honestly I forget they even have it until it's pointed out.

That's probably best. I know I usually watch the episode on Monday and I'm sure plenty of people watch right as it airs.

I love the way they're tying the Momotaro legend in so seamlessly. It's also interesting that there's a point system, but those points seem to be something you DON'T want.

Also, it turns out that the baddies are actually Greeed. One is obsessed with laughter but can't feel happiness, and one's obsessed with romance but can't feel affection. It makes me wonder what the their one's downfall will be. Also, why do I get the feeling the Senate will be going after the two corrupted ones pretty soon? It could be interesting to see two of the baddie generals become a third faction like we had in Faiz, with the remaining one gaining new companions. Also, if Momoi turns out to be from the same plane, could he end up becoming a baddie at some point with the remaining four having to best their own leader to bring him back? It almost feels as though Don Momotaro is training them for such a purpose.

This show is so much more solid without the mech battles happening every episode, and we already know who two upcoming MotWs are (the other nurse and the playboy). It seems interesting that the enemy is thre to destroy human desire, yet has the ability to encourage it - another striking similarity to the Greeed.

As for the roll call... what did I just watch? And what was with that corny salute? It makes me glad that this sentai isn't all buddy-buddy.

Donburako is the onomatopoeia used almost exclusively in the story of Momotaro when the peach carrying the baby Momotaro floats down a river. It's so well-known that just saying "donburako" will immediately make native speakers go "oh Momotaro". Kind of like how "snkt" is almost exclusively used and known as being Wolverine's claws' sound effect.

Possibly just released early. If anything it's non-canon because they fought they same monster again. Much like those Don Momotaro and Den-O specials. Although it's not clear whether they imagined the whole thing or not.

I don't know if they changed the suit at all, but they called this one a "chimney". The original monster was a train

I think its just a fun toy advertisement instead of those henshin lessons, with the production team poking fun on what the team would look like if they follows the traditional sentai formula, which this season clearly deviates from.

The unnecessary narration during the transformations reminds me so much of dekaranger

6 episodes in. It's still weird. But hey, at least it's consistent.

It was clear from the start that one way or another, Tsuyoshi was going to get busted back down to where he started. But I have to admit, I liked the confident Tsuyoshi over the downtrodden one. And the fact that his wife said she liked the latter? Ouch!

Meanwhile, there was very little fighting in this episode. Without a mecha fight and without a fight in the first half of the episode, all we got was the fight at the end. Which from start to finish is only a bit over four minutes (and half of which was Momoi showing off the toy of the day). It's a bit out of the norm for a Sentai series, but I appreciate that they intend used the time to finally exposit the basic background info of the series. Now we have confirmation of what the Nouto want, and that they are some form of higher beings.

On which note, does anyone want to lay odds that Momoi is not a Nouto? Or at least, is not a higher being like them? It seems a little too obvious given everything shown in this episode, but on the other hand it would definitely explain his superior abilities and inability to get along with regular people.

I realize the MOTW's catch phrase of "Let me nurse you" was based on the medical care definition of the word. But I will outright admit that I'm immature enough that it cracked me up due to the other definition.

Finally, I think the points thing actually left me more confused than when I started. So the Bros get points, which will be what ultimately gets them out of having to save the world every week. But the more points they get, the more fortune/misfortune they get? Kaito's comment at the end throws me for a loop, since if the idea is that you can spend points for wishes, then the number of overall points you have shouldn't necessarily matter; rather it should be a function of needing X points for a given wish? In any case, it strikes me that there isn't much fortune in any of this, since what started this whole series is a bunch of bad things happening to all of them.
takenoko wrote: Sat Apr 09, 2022 7:57 pm Why did he back out of his wife's big award thing? So lame
The answer is because he doesn't think he's worthy of his wife. But it's a very weird complex to have, since at this point they would have been in a relationship for multiple years. In any case, it's a bit cringy due to how it's overdone.
Man are the cubes from Jyuoh cheap looking
Everything about the Alter forms is cheap looking. The only credit I'll give Toei here is that at least this one was only as cheap looking as the ToQ form, instead of somehow looking even worse.

Aren't these spin-off videos virtually always non-canon? It would be weirder if it was in fact canon.

In any case, I rather enjoyed this one. I realize it's taunting the audience a bit, but I really liked the Classic Sentai version of DonBrothers, and it's a shame the actual team is so aloof. There's something to be said about Competence Porn.

Oh they were channeling Dekaranger extremely hard there. Anyone who knows even the slightest bit about Deka would be hard-pressed to miss it.

>But I have to admit, I liked the confident Tsuyoshi over the downtrodden one. And the fact that his wife said she liked the latter? Ouch!

I think she used the term "chotto dame" which is sort of like saying "you're a bit of a fuckup" but not that aggressively of course

>On which note, does anyone want to lay odds that Momoi is not a Nouto?

I wouldn't take that bet. The fact that Momoi and the Nouto don't understand human emotions seems more than coincidence

>I realize the MOTW's catch phrase of "Let me nurse you" was based on the medical care definition of the word. But I will outright admit that I'm immature enough that it cracked me up due to the other definition.

lol, took me a second to realize what you meant

>But the more points they get, the more fortune/misfortune they get?

Yeah, I don't totally get it either. It sort of seems like using the points boosts your luck in both directions. Like you go for a big swing, but it might cost you? The explanation you can get things for points, but something bad might happen is admittedly vague and doesn't explain in what proportions you'd be getting things

>But it's a very weird complex to have, since at this point they would have been in a relationship for multiple years.

That's a good question, because I was under the impression that they met and got married right away. They don't seem like they've been married for very long. In the intro to his wife, doesn't he say they've only been married a few months? Honestly it feels like they've only known each other a year or less

Sounds like something a MOTW would say in a different company's tokusatsu ...
