It definitely has something to do with the waves, since the sound changed right before the speargun was fired. Probably the receding waves trigger a mechanism to fire the gun somehow.
I was surprised a bit to hear them talk about the zero fighters. But yeah, after hearing the Hardcore History about World War 2, it's hard to not A) feel bad for the Japanese citizens that were tricked into the terrible imperialist war B) also be super disgusted by the terrible things those soldiers did during it. Apparently the human torpedo thing is also real... so yeah... that's real fun to know too...
