How must Geats feel in this moment. He's probably looking at Keiwa and being like "Nah, he ain't the Dezastar. It's Neon"

Buffa's face is still messed up

Everyone's face when the Gamemaster runs away :O

Do we know any of these slave Riders? Shouldn't they try to rescue some of these guys?

lol Keiwa

Ah, Nago, you've got to up your manipulation game

Who's this random guy? I totally thought this line was from Keiwa's in the promo

Buffa's very quickly turning into a plant man. Maybe Buffa can't heal with his body all monstered up What a terrible fate

Oh wait, I was just thinking that we've never met Nago's sponsor. Maybe that's whot hat guy is

Wow, Keiwa saw through that so easily

Ooh, a glimpse at the Goddess

Got to love the meta level. Just as things are getting interesting with Neon, Keiwa, and Ace, we're dealing with these alien/future people. Wonder if we'll get to see Beroba's form or if this is a lady Rider thing and it's a plot point for an episode before forgotten entirely

Genuinely kind of curious how this is going. We've got the drama between our trio of main characters, but there's also stuff going on in the world building. That's pretty good plot progression so far. A solid episode, but mostly of setting up future payoffs. If it had just a few more killer moments I probably would have given it a 5, but for now this is a high 4 for me

Edit: Also, credits to Sparrow for using psychology to drive the Gamemaster out into the open. He may have a bad haircut, but at least he's kinda smart sometimes

Edit edit:
Man, Geats really doesn't think of people like Neon and Keiwa as friends does he? He only ever calls them Nago and Tycoon. Even if he's friendlywith them, at the end of the day, they're still just opponents to his ultimate goal

I also appreciate the way the Dezastar stuff turned out. Yeah, it was dumb of Neon to admit it. But something I hate in media is when the characters lose 50 IQ for the sake of plot. Of course Ukiyo figures out who the Dezastar is. The surprise is that Keiwa figures it out too, but in a way this also makes sense. These characters have been through a lot together. Keiwa uses his knowledge of both Ukiyo (the gary stu that he is) and Neon to make a reasonable accusation. If Keiwa and Ace failed to do this, it would have been insulting to the audience

Neon is an idiot. All she has to do is not do anything, and then she'll win. As long at least one of the other 2 doesn't vote for her, she's fine. So she just has to make sure Keiwa has no reason to suspect her. But no, because Geats is in the title, he has to win yet again. Although based on the preview...
Spoiler
It looks like no-one's gonna win, cause the Desire Grand Prix is getting cancelled due to an unforeseen hostile takeover.

neat of them to move Sparrow to the Jyamato background in the OP with Buffa.

I don't think the slaves here, and thus the ones besides Punkjack when Girori was in charge, are real people, instead just constructs generated by the Vision Driver by using the one side piece that can hold regular buckles, as opposed to the cards they use.

now that we know you need a vision driver to get access to the Goddess, I'm betting Ace "had suspicions" about all that, and his wish to become Gamemaster was not just to be part of staff and learn more about the DGP in general, but also get his own Vision Driver and see if the Goddess is his mom.

the site I get the majority of my Geats merch from has preorders up for the gun and belt Jin used at the end (sold separately) as regular items you can get, rather than PB items like the Jyamato buckle or Vision driver, so I imagine this means Jin and anyone else who might use those will become more relevant in the future. getting real Genesis Driver vibes, so looking forward to seeing if any of our Desire Driver users swap to new equipment or if more regular buckles come out as we move forward.

gonna need to either get the items for myself or get a better look at the episode again, but Jin's gun has that big circle bit in the middle that looks like it's got a lot of empty space inside it, even after assembly. this makes me wonder something: the handle part was on Jin's belt on the same kind of holder side part that the Desire Drivers have, which can hold buckles or weapons or anything that has a part on it in the shape of the part with the pin array that lets the Desire Driver know what buckle is installed (weapons have that but no pin array, since they can't fit onto the belt anyway). does the front part have one, too? can you pop one or both halves onto the desire driver and use them like regular buckles? the big circle would be positioned about right to cover the center circle area where core IDs go.

Spoiler
So, this will be the second DPG in a row that Neon, Keiwa, and Ace get cheated out of victory? They should band together and tell Tsumuri that unless two of them get their wishes this time then all of them will quit since it makes no sense to risk their lives if they are never going to get paid.
This is a show that can have a LOT of female riders if they wanted to:

Neon - here
Lopo - probably will be back
Beroba - hopefully will be henshining frequently
Tsumuri - She will eventually reach a point where she has to henshin to achieve a higher goal
Sara - Her connection with the game will eventually draw her in.
Bootleg Nago - Only if Keiwa can win one of the DGP
Fashionable girl assistant - How can she not?

Yeah, she's desperate later, but for the beginning, it was her mission to sabotage one of the Riders wasn't it? Winning via being the Dezastar isn't as easy as you think, obviously there'd be some conditions like fulfilling those missions.

Oh thank God, it seems we're finally done with the dezastar stuff. I remain of the opinion that it's been a waste of unimportant melodrama, and I'm glad to be past it.

I will give credit to the writers for having both Ace and Keiwa deduce that Nago was the traitor in character-consistent manners. Though Ace's choice is obvious (Keiwa could never do it and they both know it), the fact that he employed a little game theory with regards to approval ratings is very in-character for him. Meanwhile, for Keiwa to latch on to the human elements is also spot on the money for him.

I'm still slightly annoyed that either rider is helping the Jamato, though, since neither one of them is strictly evil.

And while I'm not strictly evil, either, I must say that I appreciated that Tsumuri was blown away by one of the traps. She was entirely too cheery about those traps, and had it coming! (Though on that note, she's been largely sidelined on this arc; I hope that means she's going to get some focus time here soon)

Also, I noticed there was a typo in the Anon subs at 18:48: "[...] from the begging that you were the Dezastar."

Buffa's very quickly turning into a plant man. Maybe Buffa can't heal with his body all monstered up What a terrible fate
That's actually a really good observation that I missed when watching this. He's not healing. At this point he seems to truly be a zombie: not alive, but undead.

I'll agree with this. No one was made an idiot for the sake of the Dezastar plot (though it did get kind of close at one point during the first two episodes).

Oh, I heard Tsumuri scream, but for some reason I thought it was the Gamemaster who got blown away by the trap

Yeah, usually when they do a time jump they get rid of the wound makeup or replace it with a bandage or something.

Great character focus episode for Neon. I really wish she didn't get herself busted, though. What she was doing was too obvious. And his sponsor is a strange one, but I like this development. Although, this is the first time it's been explicitly mentioned that Neon is selfish. She didn't strike me as the selfish one, while I admit her wish is pretty selfish. But when I see Daichi and Michinaga, Neon can't even go near how selfish those 2 are.
I'm still hoping that her true love doesn't end up being romantic love. And that she doesn't end up with Keiwa. That's just too boring for Geats, no matter what.

I like that Ace is breaking out of his trickster mold, but honestly, I like him better that way. I like him more as the unpredictable protagonist.

Finally, we get to see the sponsors transform! I'm super hyped to see Beroba's suit next week. What's with the name of the gun, though? "Laser Raise Riser"? That is so confusing and makes no sense.

The goddess of creation story isn't looking so interesting yet. Cuz everyone seems to guess that the goddess is Mitsume, Ace's mom. I also think that's the case, but it seems too simple at this point. Hope next week brings in more excitement to that story.

I almost forgot. The comical moments in this episode were spot on. For once, I didn't think Chirami was pointlessly annoying. And Tsumuri just going with all of it so easily was also funny.

The rivalry between Ace and Neon was also interesting. Keiwa is not good enough to strike a rivalry with Ace yet, so it's good that it was Neon instead.
takenoko wrote: Sat Feb 11, 2023 5:48 pm Everyone's face when the Gamemaster runs away :O
Didn't think I'd see those expressions on those faces in this series. So plus points for that.
takenoko wrote: Sat Feb 11, 2023 5:48 pm lol Keiwa
The obvious victim for the traps and pranks in this... They should start letting Ace and Neon fall for these too. Seeing only Keiwa in that pitiful state always gets boring.
takenoko wrote: Sat Feb 11, 2023 5:48 pm Who's this random guy? I totally thought this line was from Keiwa's in the promo
Lol, you think the guy who wishes for "world peace" would say stuff like that to a rich girl? Ace, I'd understand but not Keiwa. That's not who I think he is.
takenoko wrote: Sat Feb 11, 2023 5:48 pm Buffa's very quickly turning into a plant man. Maybe Buffa can't heal with his body all monstered up What a terrible fate
Gives me the creeps every time. But I kinda like it...? I like Juffa... 🤷‍♀️😅
takenoko wrote: Sat Feb 11, 2023 5:48 pm Wow, Keiwa saw through that so easily
I wish he didn't, just because I wanted Neon to win. But hey, at least it got an unexpected smirk out of Ace.

Yes, do remind me of his weird hairstyle. I was finally getting over it. Dude's only purpose here is to give ideas and advice. So it's only fair for him to have his share of contribution.

And I'm ok with this. Even if they are (kinda) supposed to be his friends, they are his rivals in the end. It's too soon for Ace to think of anyone as his friend, at least until he meets his mother.

Same goes for Sophia in Saber.

Her wish is for herself but yeah, there are much more in a person than just their main goal. While her wish is for herself (same goes for Ittetsu, tbh), in the game she's someone who often helps civilians or even other Riders, and generally hates underhanded means in the game. Kyun was someone jerk though, don't blindly eat up his words, he just makes many worst assumptions about her as much as he can.

There was an, IMO, pretty cool shot at the end of the conversation where we've got to see the other side of his head (that was facing away from camera all this time) and he had a colored strand of hair like the rest of sponsors
(except the frog person I guess)

Didn't understand what was that whole speach about, though. Neon's in a competition and her wish is as valid as others'. She either wins or loses, and whatever happens to others if the wins will happen to her if they win, so it's not like she's horribly sacrifising others for her selfish desires. Keiwa would just return to normal life and maybe participate again, Ace will 100% participate again and that's all that would happen.
