Re: What's up with Toei streaming these last two weeks?
The Amazon ones are supposed to be pretty good (just large raws). Someone put the current episode TVer encodes up, but they're worse quality than the broadcast episodes. I haven't had time to look at Abema yet
Re: What's up with Toei streaming these last two weeks?
With any of those services, I'd be sure to check the frame rates. If they host content from multiple sources, they may normalize everything to 30fps out of convenience...

Is that a thing that happens? I don't know if I've seen that

If you guys wanted to V2 stuff for high quality, I always buy the Blu-Rays. Obviously that's many months away, but I've got everything ToQger to present pretty much.
Seen:
Super Sentai: Fiveman, Zyuranger onwards
Kamen Rider: Ichigou-Skyrider, and all the Heisei/Reiwa series except the American shows.
Precure: DokiDoki-Go Pri
Metal Heroes: Gavan
Other: Spiderman
Current watching: Rewatching Zordon era Power Rangers

Thanks, but we also pick up Blu-rays if we're planning on working on them. I don't think we really have the manpower to work on shifting the scripts for encoding to Blu-ray unless it's like something we really like unfortunatelyHowlingSnail wrote: ↑Sun Mar 12, 2023 3:27 pm If you guys wanted to V2 stuff for high quality, I always buy the Blu-Rays. The Abema files are 30 fps. Apparently this is more common than I thought
Re: What's up with Toei streaming these last two weeks?
D'oh! I wasn't exactly hoping to be right, here...
If they're just duplicate frames, it may be possible to fix them via decimation. But I'm well out of date on what the current solutions are for that.

There's a simple filter that removes all the duplicate frames. I have no idea how it works, but it's like magic to me

I see that Anon's releases this week aren't broadcast TV rips. Any idea of Toei finally fixed their TTFC chicanery, or if they're using a different source?

Re: What's up with Toei streaming these last two weeks?
So Abema is pretty interesting. It's a site that lets you stream the most recent episode of SHT (gotta be in Japan though). 30 fps, but still higher quality than TTFC is it is now. Is it as high quality as a broadcast equivalent? Not sure, but it's good enough and more clean (edit, the broadcast has more detail when comparing the two encodes openings, but you'd never notice unless you compared them side by side)
Oh, one annoying thing is the SHT intro and outro are included so those need to be snipped and has to be converted to 24 fps. One nice thing about ttfc is that it was more or less ready to work with as is

Re: What's up with Toei streaming these last two weeks?
Interesting. I didn't realize Abema was same-day. I thought they were delayed a few days. But I guess that's just Amazon?
As the resident image quality snob, I agree with your assessment. Looking at some of the frames from the OP, it's a bit worse than broadcast (or good TTFC), but not immensely so. And it's certainly leaps and bounds better than the currently bad TTFC. Though it's odd that it's zoomed in just a little.
I'm also glad to see the 30 to 24fps conversion is working so well. I wouldn't have even noticed it was decimated if not for the fact that I had been told the source was 30fps.

Abema is interesting since you can watch the previous episode up till the air time of the new eps. And I think the new eps becomes public after the episode airs, so I didn't have to wait long to hear about someone in Japan grabbing it
>Though it's odd that it's zoomed in just a little.
Oh, I think someone mentioned that as well. Not sure why, unless it's Toei's way of watermarking where the file is being distributed?

Yeah, most of the time it's no issue nowadays. It's more of a pain when there's interlacing fuckery to deal with. Thank goodness for the HD age

I don't mean to be annoying or anything but I remember mentioning this in my previous comment. My wording may not have been perfect, though.takenoko wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 10:30 pm >Interesting. I hear rumors that the TTFC this week were good again?
