Wow, two year time jump right away?
Yeaaah, nice job being king, Jeremie. Seems like it's going well
What he's just still alive? Also the locusts are from space? If this is how you wanted to play it, why let us think Kamejimu died last episode?
Oh no, what happened to Sebastian? He turned 27 and became a noble sitting on his butt?
I like the maids synchornized tch!
The Tofu background is extremely bad. Just go outside and film it! I like that even the people fake cry
Kogane's hair is cute in a ponytail
With how many attacks happen in Shugoddom, they really need a way to move the buildings underground like Nerv
Gira's weirdly nonplussed over the thousands of people who probably just died over his dumb joke
Oh Gerou's still alive
For such an overpowered villain, he sure is giving Gira a chance. I mean, interplanetary teleportation is pretty powerful
Well, at least I have some answers to the questions I had from the last episode
That cgi space throne room sure looks expensive
Again, why do people live in Tokyo/Shugoddom where all the giant monster attacks happen?
The nksopa monster looks like a cool robot ninja
Hey Himeno has a new outfit
Rita's got a hair cut
I really wish I knew what was in space king's transparent head
Hey, Yanma's fighting is pretty good melee this week
What did Rita do? I don't remember her having such a move
Love Himeno's new scythe
Looks like Kaguragi's got a new stinger attack. And Rita has a new butterfly attack
It looks like there's a little guy with a cape riding around in the space king's head, maybe his true form?
I sorta hate this in media res situation. So we're plopped two years in the future, so now we're full of questions like "Why are the rulers in prison? Where did they g et their new powers?" But why not just show us that happening instead of leaving it as an unsatisfying puzzle box that I'm assuming they'll answer in the next episode. It's more annoying than intriguing, because they'll either show it later anyway or just leave it as an unsatisfying hand wave
Himeno's pose and smirk in the preview is pretty interesting. YouTube spoiled it but I saw Rita is going maskless
Ah a body swap episode. A classic but a goody
Edit: Hey, what happened to that little spider from last week? Stop seeding weird things into your series that you're not going to pick up right away! Also, actually reading the text at the end, I do see now that the rulers were in prison because it was a silly last minute gag. This writer is the most chaotic I've seen Toei have in a while

This is the most powerful villain so far in a sentai series? but he wants to play with his food so we know what is going to happen.
Gira looks just like Racles now. It's just a 2 years time skip.
The villains designs are really good. Gorma looks badass.
Himeno can you be more beautiful? <3.
The kings were on prison for stupid reasons. Rita was on "vacation time" lol
Blonde Yanma look like a freaking Korean boy band member... really bad change...
Maskless Rita is so cute! <3
This is how you start a new "arc" take notes kamen rider geats.

Re: King-Ohger 27 discussion post
The opening events in this episode mirrored the events happened in episode 1, almost scene by scene, except with the aides replacing the kings. It's hilarious.
Geroujiimu threw all four swords into the jail without one hitting the bars and bounced off. I wonder how many retakes did they do to achieve this.
It just showed that Gokkan had no one else there. Didn't they at least have prison guards? They even tried to stop Geroujiimu, yet Kamejimu just waltz in.
There's something comical about the image of a divine being floating in the air acting all holy and divine, then the mortal standing on the ground just went "Nah".
All the kings coming back to save the day at the end was cool, but throwing them in jail for arbitrary reasons to get them out of the episode was just a madman's doing.
I was kind of cringing when Gira started saying his Evil King lines, but then he changed the part about the destroyer from "Gira" to "Ohsama Sentai". So... character growth?
So was this why Racles kept escalating the conflicts for seemingly no reason? Just to keep space bug happy and prevent humanity's extinction?

Re: King-Ohger 27 discussion post
Er, wha?
We knew a hard pivot was coming based on how last week's episode ended. But even with that information, I was unprepared for just what this week would bring.
Everything going on with the kings has me outright baffled. I understand what happened - that they were imprisoned - but it's so far out of left field that it leaves one gobsmacked. I don't know what else to say other than "Well, that happened."
The fact that our new Big Bad is essentially a bored god is an interesting take, though. Sentai has had mythological beings and such (and whatever the heck the Nouto were), but this is the first time that it's been a seemingly omnipotent god that's committing omnicide out of sheer boredom. I don't understand why this is any more than what happened with the kings, but it's a refreshing idea. I just hope the execution can keep up with the premise. (The problem with facing a bored god is that you have to have to come up with a convincing reason for an unbeatable foe to lose)
In any case, there's a metric fuckton of CGI in this episode. Some of it, especially the space scenes, is pretty good. It looks like they also filmed some scenes in front of an AR wall rather than a screen screen (such as Yanma's fight), which although not as good as a location shot, is a great deal better than the green screen. Overall, parts of this episode feel like a relaunch of the series, and Toei certainly put the budget into it.
What kind of bugs are the space bugs, anyhow? Their highly stylized design makes it hard to tell what they're supposed to be.
Finally, I think this may be the first episode without a King-Ohger appearance of some kind?
And are the locusts shugods, or what? I'm really confused on that point.

From an in-universe POV, Kamejimu needed to be dead to make the time-skip work. The kings wouldn't have truly defeated the Bugnarok and brought about world peace if Kamejimu was still running around. (Also, it let them fill their mecha quota for the episode)
And are the locusts shugods, or what? I'm really confused on that point.
I was wondering that as well. Is his head transparent? Or an odd mix of reflective and opaque? It looks like there's a little guy with a cape riding around in the space king's head, maybe his true form?
That makes two of us. But, in fairness, it does have us talking about the show.I sorta hate this in media res situation. So we're plopped two years in the future, so now we're full of questions like "Why are the rulers in prison? Where did they g et their new powers?" That scene broke my brain for a moment. She looks so different there that I assumed they accidentally left in a shot with a body double.Himeno's pose and smirk in the preview is pretty interesting.
It's just a black and gold version of God Tarantula, right? So like King-Ohger Zero, I'm assuming it's a one-and-done that is there to advertise the obligatory black and gold mecha series. I'm assuming Toei just recent started (or soon will start) selling the spider?Hey, what happened to that little spider from last week? Stop seeding weird things into your series that you're not going to pick up right away!
Inoue still holds the record on that by a mile. But if you told me that Takano had gone to Inoue for advice, I'd absolutely believe it. It's certainly Inoue-level insanity. This writer is the most chaotic I've seen Toei have in a while
Yeah. The rest are fine. Yanma is a distinct downgrade.
I'm 99% sure that's CGI trickery, unfortunately. The gate is CGI, and given the bouncing, I'm guessing the swords were, too.
Slowly but surely. Now if the other core 4 kings need their own development to get over their ongoing selfishness.I was kind of cringing when Gira started saying his Evil King lines, but then he changed the part about the destroyer from "Gira" to "Ohsama Sentai". So... character growth?
That does seem to be the case. I have to imagine at some point Racles will be back to explain just WTF he was thinking. So was this why Racles kept escalating the conflicts for seemingly no reason? Just to keep space bug happy and prevent humanity's extinction?
Re: King-Ohger 27 discussion post
that thing in the transparent head is a tardigrade seemingly piloting the space king's body so most likely that's his true formtakenoko wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 7:07 pm < Previous

the body is probably just a robot, given how the Jesters' designs suggest that these space bugs are technologically advanced/

Got you covered bro, in short:
DDD - Tardigrade
Kamejimu - Still that triangle faced bug but his surname is some kind of planthopper?
Gouma Rosalia - White-spotted longicorn beetle and Rosalia batesi (another beetle species)
Hirubiru Lech - Leech (hiru). Might also be named after Kill Bill (Kiru Biru)?
Minongan Mouz - Bagworm moth (Minomushi) and Moth (Mosu). The bagworm moth is a moth that looks like sticks. This is the guy who's called camouflager or whatever we called it

lol, knowing now that it's a body swap episode explains it. But remember I write these commentaries as I'm watching so it's being done live
>I'm assuming Toei just recent started (or soon will start) selling the spider?
Oh for sure this spider is getting a figure at some point
Maybe it's just me, but the "that nice brother became a tyrant because a cthulu bug from space made him do it" sorta unsatisfying? Hey Gira, maybe you shouldn't have killed your brother without knowing what his reasons were

That is true. But it's still the most mecha-heavy season in a while. So it's a bit of a break from the norm, as Toei has been diligently stuffing in something mecha-related in every episode thus far.>Finally, I think this may be the first episode without a King-Ohger appearance of some kind?

I think the tardigrade is probably the caped pilot in DDD's head. I like Hirubiru's and Minongan's designs the best since Hirubiru is obviously a buncha leeches and if you look up a bagworm moth, it looks just like a bunch of sticks like this design

Re: King-Ohger 27 discussion post
Overall episode was okay, though I fail to see a need to have the monarchs in prison. It served no purpose and they were back on their thrones at episode's end. The rest of the premise is absolutely fine, and I'm getting some serious Burajira vibes from Kamejimu. If it wasn't for the fact that the Warstars only lasted for 15 episodes and we're already 27 into King-Ohger I'd swear that THIS enemy group was going to be destroyed soon-ish and a third one pop up to fight through another arc.....
