do you mean on Apparebushido's back or the back of the Appareskebow form? because for the former, the card art has him holding the two swords and on his back is a fan, for the latter it's exhaust pipes because this is the "it's red, it goes fast" form, I guess? as for a sword attack, I think the bow doubles as a sword, like the Sonic Arrow in Gaim?

the exact second I first saw Valvarad's costume, my immediate thought was "oh, is this going to be someone working for the bad guys who turns into a Rider later, like Chase?"

so far, seems he's more of an antagonistic rival than an outright villain, so not a 1:1 with Chase, but I'll be surprised if he doesn't have a proper Rider form by the end of the show.

something I'm curious about: his main transformation uses the Madwheel Chemy, then the one auxiliary thing he does is also powered by a vehicle type Chemy, and the first thing we see him doing in the next episode preview almost certainly seems like it'll be derived from a third vehicle type Chemy. since his weapon, mask, and civilian name are all wrench themed*, can he ONLY use Vehicle type Chemy? and even if he can use other kinds, we've at least seen him using vehicle types, so will he swipe Steamliner or Skebows from Gotchard at some point to use them, too?

*his name is Spanna which is clearly based on "Spanner" a term used for a type of wrench with an adjustable grip, like the kind on his helmet. if you've ever heard of the phrase "Spanner in the works", possibly on TvTropes, that's the same as "throwing a wrench in the works", just more British.

interesting note about both this episode and the preview for next episode that involves minor spoilers:

so, the primary Malgam of the episode is Venomdake, but the secondary one is Deepmariner, which pairs with Venomdake for the Venommariner form. that's the form whose helmet we see Gotchard sporting in the preview for next episode. what's interesting about that, at least to me, is that all of the initial marketing materials for Gotchard that showed any forms beyond Steamhopper, as well as the first toy in the figure series where you can swap armor pieces on the main figure, all had Steamhopper, Appareskebow, and the yet to be shown Antwrestler made of Antrooper (whose name is in the title for next episode, so probably going to be acquired then) and WrestlerG. so it's surprising that Venommariner is appearing in the show before Antwrestler is, and has me curious why they didn't show it off ahead of time.

That's so funny, when i was researching how to spell his name, they made the same comment on the Japanese site I was on. I guess he's the first non-Rider transformation (that will probably get a Rider name late) of Reiwa?

one could argue Storius from Saber counts, even if he just becomes one for the finale chunk as a boss fight?

if not him, then for sure Aguilera and Julio from Revice, Aguilera moreso since she refines her stamp and is thus using the same power as a rider that she did as a kaijin, like how Chase's Rider form is just his Kaijin form with the excess scraped off.

Storius was a Rider too? I dunno if Aguilera and Julio count, since their monster and Rider forms were completely different weren't they? Pretty sure Kamen RIder Valvardo will be like Chase and be some modified version of that form

yeah, like right at the VERY end, so you can be forgiven for forgetting that.

that was why I was saying Aguilera counted more if they count at all, since her form looks different, but at least both her forms are roughly the same colors and both use a queen bee stamp.

olteca gets a unique rider form in a post-series movie thing, as opposed to being "Demons 2" right? Julio/Tamaki is the only one whose Rider form doesn't use his original Deadmans stamp or name

all that said, I could also agree they don't necessarily count.

plus, there's always the chance they subvert expectations and he doesn't become a rider (or at least not until after the main series is over) and just stays as is plus any upgraded forms based on his default form/power up forms using stronger Chemy.

Watched all 3 episodes this morning. Yeah, I was wondering if this Spanna guy counts as a Rider. I assumed he was, but I've mostly fallen off the toku fandom lately, so I've mostly gone in blind, so for the first time in a long while I have no clue what is gonna happen.

Enjoyable so far, although the premise of the show is less immediately intriguing than Geats. There's no real hook of "What is the Desire Grand Prix?" to get me interested.

Also, funny story, the other day Rinne's actress posted a pic of herself on Instagram with a particular T-shirt. I can't remember what it was said exactly, but it was something along the lines of "Fuck you all". It definitely had "Fuck" in it. She quickly took it down and posted a message saying someone gave it her as a gift and she didn't know what it meant.

rewatching the episode, it's because he wasn't taking the Joker Gas-shroom attack, so the Malgam hit him with poison spores instead. different attacks = different effects makes sense.

Yeah, I wish I had. I think I'd just woken up so my brain cells weren't in top gear. I know I couldn't quite make out what it said, it was a bit too creased, but the first word was definitely "Fuck".

In 2012 Go-Busters twice got a way with Jin saying "Oh shit", so clearly there's some expectation Japanese youths aren't too up on English swears.
