Am I hearing that right? is that train really called DenLiner? Toku really is incestuous at times

They sure like purple pteradons in kamen rider. I can't tell if I think these monster designs are cool are ugly. Maybe both? They certainly have a creativity to them

Why TenLiner?

I like the colors for Iron Gotchard. Not sure about the lack of hands though, that always reminds me of Edward penishands when it's like that

Did the preview just spoil who the mysterious figure was at the end of the episode? lol, I guess I could have figured it out if I thought about it, but still

Like Luna said, we spend half the episode in this weird clip show montage. Eraser Chemy is cute, but not really sure why we're getting a clip show now, since it's not like something major happened

Why TenLiner?

my guess is that there'll be future powerups involving further evolutions of Steamliner and Hopper1, and the Liner and Hopper parts of the names will be what they use to keep the theming consistent.

TenLiner is likely just because it's "Steamliner, but now it's a level 10 Chemy."

if I had to guess, since this form only uses the one card, we're likely going to get a further powerup that adds in Hopper1 getting an upgrade. Hopper10, maybe?

also, full disclosure: I'd seen a cropped image of Iron Gotchard a few weeks ago, probably from either a leaked screenshot of a magazine or toy packaging or something. it wasn't immediately obvious he had the train hands, so it looked more like he had a fully black and gold suit with ominous red eyes and like a big cape or something with "eeeeeevil" shoulderpads (you know, one of those capes where the shoulder parts are exaggerated that evil kings/viziers/etc always seem to have). that had me speculating that TenLiner was actually created by Geryon and forced on him, like Metal Cluster Hopper in Zero-One, and that it'd be a berserk form, with the Hopper1 addition I'm expecting being what breaks him free of it, like Primitive Dragon + Elemental Dragon in Saber.

also, I had a thought about Dread because of this new powerup:

so, Type 0 used just the Replichemy version of Steamliner. Type 1 now uses that AND a Replichemy Unicon. when they first put the DreaDriver up for preorder, since it's a PBandai item, they included a list of the cards it'd come with, most of which were Replichemys it had already used in its debut for attacks. that list also included Unicon and Daiohni, however, long before the regular versions were in the show itself. now that they ARE in the show, though, and we know Majade and Valvarad use those chemy as part of their base forms, a thought occurs: Type 1 still uses Steamliner, so it's not like it swaps cards for its forms, just adds to it. Unicon's addition to the suit only covers half of the suit. what if the next power up for Dread (type 2, probably) uses Steamliner, Unicon, AND Daiohni, with Daiohni covering the other half of the suit? Dread's power would come from combining half the base powers of each of our main 3 riders.

Hmm, good theory. I wonder if it's significant that it uses the Majade cards in particular? Maybe Rinne will turn evil at some point and go all goth? What if not three sisters, but four? <Shoos away Harima. No one-off guests allowed

also, thinking more about it, I've updated my theory: since Iron Gotchard, barring next episode proving me wrong, doesn't seem to be a Berserk form, but also isn't complete since it's only using one card, I'm guessing rather than a Primitive + Elemental Dragon scenario, it's instead a Boost Mk2 + Laser scenario where Iron is going to be too harmful on its own and need to be balanced out into a usable form.

also, if that's the case, I'm also predicting the final form for Gotchard will be one chemy that's so big it takes up two cards at once, like how Geats and Tycoon's final forms (and Buffa's in the upcoming VCinext) are all technically a single buckle but take up the entire belt by themselves. so it's either going to be Hopper and Liner combine into a single chemy, or else just whatever Chemy 101 is is a double card.

that, or it's a rerun of Super Gotchard, where he'll use TenLiner and Inevitable-Hopper1-Powerup (or their next powerups, assuming they keep getting stronger) in the belt itself, and then the attachment that plugs into the top has a slot for the final form card, like the sword did for the level 10s

But if TenLiner is a ten card, what will he combine with? So far, Gotchard only transforms with cards that add up to 10. I guess we're on a countdown till whenever that rule is inevitably broken

arguably, that rule was already broken with the Super Gotchard forms. while on the one hand it doesn't count because the level 10 card is used in the attachment by itself and not directly in the belt, on the other hand there still needs to be the base cards in the belt to use the attachment so technically the super forms use cards adding up to 20.

and Star Gotchard is a form made of the base cards plus a special card that combines 5 level 10 Chemy, so technically he's used a combo that goes up to 60

and besides all of that, there's Valvarad's custom power system using specifically matching level cards from the Vehicle and Occult categories, which implies he has a custom form using both those level 10s.

or, maybe the almost assured powerup for Hopper1 moves in the opposite direction, to keep them adding up to 10? so we get TenLiner and Hopper0?

TenLiner? More like "Kamen Rider Ten-O", am I right? Bonus points for a "Shuppatsu Shinkou", which is the closest thing to a ToQger anniversary celebration we're apparently getting.

I liked this. Gotchard's been much better for me now the plot has gotten going. Also, is this the first episode without any of the sisters?

Clip show episodes are nearly always awkward, so I'm not sure what to make of a clip show half-episode, especially when the rest of it introduces a major powerup. Likely preferable to a whole clip show episode, anyway. It's probably there because we've hit the halfway point?

Interesting that Gotchard's left with only one form for now; I'm curious how long that will last. Beyond that, though, other issues are showing through. The crew discuss Minato possibly being a pretty decent guy, then get a message ostensibly from a good-guy Minato that not even the most cynical among them suspects might be a trap. Granted, said cynical member would most likely be Spanner, and he already has reason to believe Minato, but it still feels a little forced.

I'm also starting to get tired of the rate of upgrades. Since Gotchard got his super-speed form, it feels like we've almost never had two episodes in a row without a major character getting a major powerup. Gotchard's speed upgrade, Majade's debut, Spanner's Riderification, Klotho's nominal upgrade, something that's probably just a second form for Majade but was introduced as a major powerup, dual-card Dread, and now Iron Gotchard. Power-climbing has been in KR for a very long time, but I hope we're reaching a point where the characters can just fight with what they have for a while.

A forbidden alchemy technique that fuses humans and Chemys together. So... a Malgam?

Debuting a new form in a clip show is certainly a choice. There's not enough time to build up to it. I know they wanted to remind the viewers that forbidden alchemy techniques were dangerous before Houtarou decides to do it, but there are other ways to accomplish this.

The first Kamen Rider was called Alchemist of Daybreak. Was this where the orange Gotchard Daybreak got his name from

On another note, Dread's new form got the drip. He's even got a rapier.

Will Houtarou's mom have a new dish for her restaurant: A rice dish with a flag in the middle? Will Kyouka scold Spanner about not eating his shitake mushrooms? Will Shibumaru become a DJ and have his tablet come up with DJ chants? Will KyunVampire come back with a new catchphrase: "Advent!"?

Spanner's catchphrase is actually pretty useful: Spanner enters the restaurant "What is this? A clip show? What a bad joke!".

I am happy that Dread's new form at least has some gold to it.
