Man, Shashiro looks cool in his spy gear. Why didn't we get this kind of episode earlier

Still no Boom Orange

Are the Hashiriyan at the same base as last week? I feel like we saw that sign before. Speaking of which, what does that say, is that even Japanese?

Shashiro breaks through all the security only to trip on a wire. Boonboomger is fine as a story, it's just little nitpicks like this that I wish they'd proofread out

At least we finally see blue and red's meet cute. Again, Red has known that the ISA has been looking into them all this time? Why didn't he say anything about this to Shirabe the first time they met?

Always a good time in sentai when Muraoka Hiroyuki is playing a character. Prediction, when i fill out the wiki this week, Muraoka is surely playing this monster too, right? For context, I've got it paused on the image of him getting punched out by the mosnter lol

Oh Violet was here this whole time. That means he just watched and let this all happen lol. I know he doesn't actually work for these guys (who might be a crime family?) but seems like he should protect them from space monsters

Oh, the boxer's left hand with the hammer is replaced with a boxing glove in the fight. Nice attention to detail

Why was Taiya at the meeting. Was he just standing on the other side glaring at the head ISA guy?

I dunno. I was excited to see all these plot points drop, but I'm a little worried that they're not going to be able to make them pay off in a satisfying way. So far, Boom Orange acting as a third (or fourth) group of cross interest isn't really paying off for me

On the other hand, it's cute that we have an ongoing thing with the Three Seaters being kind of a focal point for the audience. Depending on how the current captain treats them, is a good indicator for how the audience should react to that captain. And I probably care a lot more about Mad Rex because the Three Seaters like him (even though he's really only been a one-two episode character who keeps showing up for no reason)

Nice attention to detail. The numbers written on DisRace's fortune telling board are written in Hashiriyan. The same numbers used on the license plate belts of the monsters

I think the tripwire works, honestly. it plays into Shashiro's character. he's clever enough to make it through all the high tech stuff, but a simple trick was enough to catch him off guard. it's kinda like in the one really early episode (I forget if it was 2 or 3) where he was the one who scouted out the delivery job for them, and they go through all the hassle of fighting the Vacuum Guruma because it sucked up the case they were transporting, and they thought it was some big corporate espionage type secrets and stuff, only to have it turn out it was just the customer's favorite idol's picture or something, and Shashiro sheepishly admits he done goofed.

also, we've seen the meet cute before, with Taiya pointing the tire gun at Shashiro before inviting him to join them. we're just getting more of the scene with the trip wire and Boondorio being there.

as for not mentioning it to Shirabe, they just met her and know she works for the company that's spying on them. they probably don't know for sure she's trustworthy and can't just go spilling what info they have to someone who might just report them higher up the chain.

I liked when Shashiro got given his gloves, they both lightly tapped gloves together before starting the fight proper, like a real boxing match.

best guess: they're sending the majority of what they take, but need to retain some amount to function, or their transmission gets cut off and leaves them with some amount that hadn't sent, and that's what's left to reconstitute into their giant form. possibly the keys used to make them contain Gyahsoline in order to induce the transformation into a Kurumajyu to begin with?

what I want to know is: why this combo? like, not saying they can't do unusual custom combos, but we already established way back in a super early episode that they have an orange copy of BoonBoom Offroad. they had a BoonBoomger Robo combo that was both Offroads, with Blue being closed up so they were both just pure cars strapped to Boondorio's arms, and called it BoonBoomger Robo Puncher. just do that again, but you can still include the wings from ByunDi and Marine for a head. it'd be a nice parallel to Monster, where it's Marine's head and instead of a pair of twin claws for the arms it's a pair of twin "gloves"

but they have no reason to believe the ISA would be withholding information within their own group. For all they knew, Shirabe was the one who sent Shashiro to kill/investigate Boondorio

But it's starlord levels of dumb. Red wasn't trying to finish Mad Rex off, he was asking what happened to him. They're both after information from Mad Rex, but Orange interfering like that let Mad Rex get away

the previous episode ended with Shirabe's boss talking to shashiro and saying "this is the second time I've hired you" right? presumably Shashiro was hired by him directly.

also, re: Genba being dumb and interfering, I'm either guessing a) we've already established that Genba gets really dumb and tunnel visioned when it comes to Disrace, so him being stupid makes sense or b) they'll reveal at some point that while we weren't looking/just off camera while we were focused on their faces/crossed weapons, Genba snuck a tracker onto him to be able to find where he goes.

Yeah, but up to this point Genba has been a pretty smart character. I think it's cool that he's got some personal motivations that are clearly messing with his thinking, but it still ruins who he's been up to this point. I know it's only been a couple episodes, but it's all a part of the whole being bummed out about Orange's story since it takes him out of the story/action. When he does show up, it seems like it's just to bark at his friends, which that's not cool. What seemed like a cool innovation has turned into bitterness because I hate every aspect about it besides him being a cat boy. Is the actor off filming a movie or something?

Edit: Did anyone spot any easter eggs in Tokoyari's address book? I didn't see anything personally

I still would like some follow up on what Boondorio and Byundi mean when they say they're not robots... Like, is it because they consider robots on Earth without intelligence? They definitely quality as a mechanical life form though, right?

I agree that taking Genba out of the story like this is kind of weird. He's here, but not actively participating. Hope his actor enjoyed the time off, I suppose.

It's just occurred to me that, between Gavv's debut and the recent developments with Genba, we've got 2 alien boys obsessed with candy this year. I fully expect that to get referenced if we get a crossover this year, and will be sorely disappointed if it isn't.

When all the high-tech stuff failed, go back to basic. A physical trip wire trap where it's the least expected thing to encounter in a high-tech security establishment.

Boonbario did the henshin pose too when they transformed in the garage.

Nice bonding episode between Blue and Violet. Lots of little quips like the fist bumping. Sakito was absolutely trilled when he got to use BoonBoom Offroader.

I loved when a show take a stab at itself, such as the stupidly long robot names.

Production blog

It was said that Hayama-san (Shashiro) is afraid of heights. He did a great job on the roof.

The old garage was green-screen and was not a real location.


The writer, Tomioka-san, kept saying that we had to have that Aori parent and child appeared again. So we've decided to ask them to appear again this way.

Hanae-san (ByunDi) had a very refreshing voice when laughing. The "Hahaha, I'm not a robot, hahaha," was very on point.

The voice actor for Gong Guruma was Suzuki Chihiro, chosen by Director Watanabe Katsuya. He played the high-calorie, high-energy boxing monster who gave non-stop commentary on the action.
There's a Japanese kickboxer who's also call Suzuki Chihiro, but used different kanji in the name.

About the oncoming traffic punch. If you're wondering why Sakito said "Shitari" (下り), it was another reference to a punch used in the manga "Honoo no Tenkousei" Yea, that's right.

Boondario's line, "Looks like we've truly distinguished between good and evil!" (正義と悪との識別完了), was lyrics from the theme song of the "Honoo no Tenkousei" OVA anime.

I like the ISA being villainous, human antagonists that aren't evil sentai is something i've not seen before in a sentai i think.
