Rising from the dead again to vote this a 4.

I think this show is a really solid show. very little is spectacularly good, very little is spectacularly bad, just a mostly good-pretty good experience. If it had aired at any other time, I probably would be lower on it and rated it a 3/5. But goddamn if after an anniversary season, then a quasi-anniversary mess, then the nightmare hellscape that is King-ohger did I desperately want a normal, competently written sentai again. and since the following season is the 3rd anniversary season in the space of 5 years, I think i'm still gonna be higher on this than most other seasons of equivalent quality.

As basically everyone else has already said = Three seaters good, Orange-arc payoff is bad, ground fights were pretty good, mech fights were fine, CGI was decent (and used relatively sparingly thank christ).

Yeah I think everyone's got anniversary fatigue. I had completely forgotten DonBro did the changing into other sentai schtick, it wasn't very utilized in the latter half of the show. It was kinda nice to get back to basics with Boonboomger, even if it wasn't quite the stand-out I wish it was. At least the Three Seaters were fantastic.

This is my main thing going into Gozyuger. We've kind of had non-stop wacky experimentation or anniversaries since Zenkaiger.

Zenkaiger: Anniversary, and also wacky experimentation (Non-Red lead, mecha-like suits for 4/6 of the team)
Donbrothers: Anniversary stuff still there. Wacky experimentation (Less so, but definitely in terms of the whole plot structure and barely-used mecha.)
King-Ohger: Wacky experimentation, in the whole suit design, plot structure, and filming 95% of the show on a green screen. Plus the Kyoryuger stuff for a mild anniversary hit, complete with a bit of use of Gabutyra outside of it.
Boonboomger: Mostly the first "normal" Sentai since Kiramager, although we have the various crossover episodes, including the mecha being used regularly outside of the crossovers.

It is my solemn wish that, after Gozyuger, they do not touch anniversary stuff for a very long time. I'd like a nice run of "normal" Sentais. It's okay to have a "special" show, but when they're all special, none of them are.

Yeah, they went HAM on the Kyoryuger crossover stuff in King-Ohger. don't get me wrong, I love Kyoryuger and those crossovers were fun, but god did it make me resent Toei for doing nothing with Go-Busters & Toqger's 10 year anniversaries especially since they love doing anniversary stuff every single year.

Yeah, we had that ONE Boomboom episode with 2 Toqger characters and it was a lot of fun, but Kyoryuger got a 2-parter that later got an almost hour long director's cut and cannibalised 40 minutes of the Donbrother's crossover on-top.

I'm also really hoping they're gonna chill on anniversary stuff for a while, especially since the next stretch of years don't really lend themselves to 10/20/30 "years after" anniversaries, since all the seasons you'd want anniversaries for have casting issues of people being too busy, too retired or too dead.

That said, I'd love a Ninninger thing. The entire last were getting really excited for the 10th on social media last month, it's a shame they've not announced anything yet, but it could still happen.

I can see the Ninninger guys being not famous enough to have anything better to do than be in a 10th anniversary. But isn't blue literally retired?

Based on his Instagram, Aoninger was in a play last month, so likely not retired. And if he is, it wouldn't be insurmountable. They got Kyoryu Pink.

Momoninger's pretty successful, she's one of those people who's in a new drama or movie seemingly every single week, so with her I imagine it'd be a case of if the schedule worked.

Shironinger only seems to have roles every now and then, although she has a semi-regular TV Mahjong thing. Her Instagram is fairly active but it's mostly just her hanging out with her friends.

Akaninger seems to be still active.

Kininger is also active, based on his Twitter.

Starninger (Wow!) has a few recent credits.

Midoninger is still going strong as a VA.

Go-Busters is another one where the whole team seems easily gettable, but they never bothered.

Tbf of all the seasons i've watched, Ninninger is the one I LEAST want to see a 10 years after of.

Cool to have a little update on what the cast are doing though... it always makes me happy when Momoninger is in something cause her character was the only reason i managed to finish that show, but I didn't know what the others were doing these days. (other than Starninger being Kamen rider Shinobi again in the Tycoon spin-off.)
