YGO 1999 Movie by Toei released

Post by takenoko »

Anyway, I saw this movie long ago when I first started watching YGO's dub. It was one of the few times that I've seen one of those infamous Hong Kong subs. It was awful, the translation was bad and they even got the words that were English wrong. Plus, the person who ripped it didn't know how to deinterlace, so every time someone moved there was striping. I thought to myself "I can do a better job", and now many years later we have.

About the movie itself, it could have used more Miho and Anzu. Ah well, that's what happens when a movie is 30 minutes long. Isn't the laserdisc quality awesome?

I love the splash, for a second there, I though it was a cosplay. XD

Good movie, even though it was only 30 min long. Now I'm sad as it's now over. I miss the good ole Yu-Gi-OH!

I'm currently downloading it and am really looking forward to it too. I was once saw a subbed version with pink subs, it had a poor picture quality. As a result of which, all I had to reminise of it is Yu-Gi-Oh! the abridged series' creator, Little Kuriboh's abridged version.

If that and this topic's various reponces are anything to go on, I can't wait to watch your subbing materpiece in action. :D  8)
All my love to the staff,

Thank you Takenoko. Even though I've seen LK's version, I'll happily await this.
I've always wondered who's that strange girl that keeps looking at Yugi...
And at that Albie cried a single tear which turned into a jelly bean all the colors of the rainbow! And
suddenly...Albie wasn't racist anymore!!!

I didn't understand that Old Maid thing the kids say Shougo should play instead of Duel Monsters.

I'm not sure if they refer to the same game that comes to my mind right now or something completely different.

Who is that in your avatar?

Apparently the image from the release was a reference to the abridged version. This I was not aware. I just got it from some guy's avatar in another forum that I visit

Van Tomiko, lead singer for Do As Infinity. They're my favoritest band in the whooole wide world; disbanded in 2005 but they JUST announced that they're getting back together...wahoo!

The Abridged Series is awesome, and the best part of having seen this first series is that the references LittleKuriboh makes in Abridged to the first season makes sense now...hahahaha

Spoiler
I just about died when I saw the Virtual Battle system...ahahah! Reference to ep. 1 of Abridged:
Yami: "Holy Ra! Real monsters!"
Kaiba: "Actually, they're just super-advanced holograms created for the sole purpose of enriching the experience of a children's card game."

The Abridged Series is defiantlly worth watching. I think he's running low on ideas atm, but it's still good fun.
