Wasn't there a note in the subs about that? I know I saw one.

Oh, Nago-kun's definitely an ass, but I must say I like his character. Just because he is an ass, I get the feeling it will be most interesting how his character will gradually change throughout the duration of the series. It's obvious he's not very aware of his surroundings and understanding of given facts, but being blinded to this because of a wicked sense of justice is kind of awesome. Also, I must say, he's kind of losing it too early. I really think his character might be a tragic one... Just a feeling.

If only you could hear the belt's voice. It's gotta be one of the hardest modern belts to understand, since it speaks in montone syllables. IXA is a very robotic rider. He moves stiff, he's got that voice, his name sounds like a piece of hardware...

The voice literally pronounces each of the syllables, using Japanese syllables.

So Ready comes out as Re-i-de-ii

All in all it's pretty damn hard to comprehend without knowing ahead of time what is being said

Ah. Is it a painful thing to hear for you guys? However, I think it's pretty cool now that I know.

Luckily, it's just belt, not a character itself that speak like this, right? I would imagine it would be a nightmare for takenoko.

It would be cool if subtitles followed it like that, but I can see it would be hard because words in English and Japanese is different.

> Wasn't this provokation after Wataru had posed the possibility that not all Fangire are evil?

Provocation after Nago denied the possibility. I don't think Nago even considered it at all.

> Well, that sounds like a good justification for torture. "It's okay to hurt one's enemies, because they're one's enemies". Ruthless is an understatement. [ . . . ] Let's simplify this. Would you say it's okay to break other people's stuff because you dislike them?

I actually had to think about this for a few days. Isn't that the entire point of fighting and combat? (Aside from sport, of course) To destroy another person or his/her will/spirit or his/her belongings because you oppose certain beliefs or ideas or the way they dress or whatever and thus it fuels you enough to battle. The point of combat is to destroy--the point of war is to destroy absolutely everything possible of your opponent. The dislike is simply fuel, propelling combatants harder and harder. The Aozora organization has a holy war upon the Fangire, and Nago in particular wants to crush them all down to the tiniest shred of dust.
Ruthless, indeed.

Ah, sorry, I rambled. And it had very little to do with the topic.
Anyway, depending on what moral school of thought you subscribe to, sure.
Though it's neither A: A school of thought I subscribe to (I wouldn't just because I "dislike" them), or B: Anything appropriate for a kid's show, so okay, you've got a point there.

On the topic of the belt, I was amused by the belt's pronunciation of IXA Calibur Rise Up. Especially the last part, where it goes "UP... [wait, am I forgetting something? Um...crap...it's been a few seconds...um...] ...ppu".
It sounds like one of those text to speech simulators, which I think may have been the point.

The thing is, Nago is supposed to be a gentleman and his suit is supposed to be based on a knight. Knights have a code of chivalry. Or the samurai have their bushidou. It's one thing to kill your enemy. It's another thing to pee all over them and humiliate them. There's just some things one shouldn't be doing to one's enemies. These guys are supposed to be honorable and respect their enemy too.

In ancient Greek culture, right and wrong was "love your friends, hate your enemies". So I guess it is culture dependent.

IXA Calibur Rise Up in Japanese would be (I-ku-sa ka-ri-ba-a ra-i-zu ap-pu)
