Watch parties?

Post by takenoko »

Would people be interested if we set up meeting time to watch a release?

Like maybe 10 PM Eastern, 7 PM Pacific on the day of a release people can meet up and watch the episode release together? It'd just be an excuse to hang out and experience a thing together with other people

We can probably set it up on discord or whatever

Will you delay the releases so that it's out right before or will it go like usual?

Discord (or any chat) seems fine since we live in a lot a different place. I never used Discord so I don't know if it's the best for it.

That's good then. It allow for people to watch them when it's the most convenient to them and not wait for some party they might not even attend.

I was looking into this a bit when I brought it up to you -

Discord video calls seem a bit cumbersome for something like this since it seems you have to dial people in. The option I think would be best is Kast, formerly rabb.it: you set up a chat/watch room, leave it there for people to join throughout the week, you can set moderators, and you can screenshare from any source.

I also think it'll help to have a pre-show as people join? Just like run the CMs for fun or some choice cool or funny clips so it's not just a blank screen while we wait. Also could be fun to run the SHT junctions between and after the shows.

Okay, maybe more than a bit, I've been thinking about this a lot haha.

Kast doesn't cost money just need to sign up for an account. I was streaming with anime with it yesterday with no problems though it was a private stream. But I did see a public anime watching party.

I want to have a viewing party for the next Zero-One release. Let's start with something simple like meeting on IRC and just doing a countdown. If it's popular maybe we can research one of those other programs (Unless someone wants to do that for me)

So for the next Zero-One release, viewing party! Details:
Garo -Versus Road- 03 release, viewing party:

Time: 6 PM Pacific time same day of release. So if it releases before 6 PM on Tuesday, we watch it that 6 PM. If it's after, then we watch it on Wednesday at 6 PM.

Place: IRC web client: http://cgiirc.synirc.net/
Channel: #tv-nihonwatchers
(You can also join our discord server and go to the channel #watchers: https://discord.gg/Ge2cXRw)

Again, if someone wants to come up with a better system and handle it for me, I'll gladly step aside and we'll try their plan.
