Ha, love the costumes in this episode. Flint's 80s dress and Zox's 70s outfit. That wig looks good on Kaito, I think he's usually pretty unattractive with the bowl haircut he usually has

After using the TimeRanger gear, Zyuran says something similar to the opening narration to the TimeRanger opening.

i was wondering, since this was/is an anniversary season, if when they had them in retro clothes what they put them in was indicative of older sentai tropes, but i cant seem to place all of them so im better they missed a chance.

just goes to show you though, having a bad past can come in handy sometimes. The kikanoids have rough pasts is what saved the day here.

when Yatsude was showing the kid how back in the day you turned the knob on the TV ... or rather how kids were the remotes ... what were they watching? if an older sentai i didnt recognize it, and i was half expecting them to turn on a sentai series which they didnt, (although they that NO sentai was on TV was actual following continuity so good job writers!)

Stacy not joining the dance but being intrigued by it had GOT to be a battle fever thing. no one can tell me otherwise. (yes i want nods all season long!) but Stacy did establish that his mother was one of his fathers many wives, like #783 or something like that so im guessing the back story is his dad had something to do with his moms death which is why hes trying to out shine his dad somehow? or perhaps defeat him but not be disloyal to giant head villian ... which we havent had in what feels like forever.

It probably would not have suited her, but they could have put Magine in a sukeban outfit.

I mean, they're very bad cgi effects, can they truly be counted as alive? They're always on the exact same plane too, it's like someone thought about making them interact with their environment and then just went "nah fuck it"

I'm gonna be honest here Zenkaiger can be dumb af but it's the enjoyable kind of dumb where they just decide to embrace the absurdity from time to time.

On a separate note Zox doing his henshin dance in public with no after effects and everyone wondering what the hell he's doing is probably the most relatable thing to a toku fan

Since it's themed to retro stuff, there isn't any reference to Michael Jackson, Punky Brewster, Ima Firin Mah Lazor, NES, SNES, N64, Flintstones, Tom & Jerry, Elvis Presley, Studebaker, Wheel of Fortune, Cola Wars, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, the old Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Metal Heroes, Ultraman, Dragon Ball, Dr. Slump, Fist of the North Star, Ferris Bueller, James Bond before Daniel Craig, 90s net, Transformers, etc.

I think they went this route because of Covid, I mean Gokiger was originally only supposed to feature guests from season that would actually have given them useful grand powers but cause of the disaster there in March of 2011 they said "to heck with it" and ramped up and put as many guests in as they could and it worked.

You know at times this season I was starting to get bored with Zenkiger, all the stupid stuff that yodel that Zox does but this episode now were starting to feel the story coming through, with Stacey I wonder if they're going to do the same as they did with Kou in Dairanger, making Stacey the white rangers brother?
