hey, hang on a minute! I just thought of something: them just having the team mech from next season show up was a serious missed opportunity. they missed the chance for Tarou to think maybe that one bug he was looking for WAY back in the episode where Murasame first appeared really HAD lived all this time and turned into a super robot or something. just for the joke.

They're probably saving that joke for the crossover movie.
