What's up with Toei streaming these last two weeks?
Rar of the screencaps:

Imagine how annoying it'd be if we were still working on these shows and had to retime the scripts for the new raws. Ahahahaha...

Re: What's up with Toei streaming these last two weeks?
The obvious answer is that Toei is bit-starving these streams. I'd be curious to see the network traffic data from watching an episode, because I have to imagine these streams are being sent out at sub-1Mbps bitrates. Otherwise, the alternative would be that the masters that TTFC draws from are the culprit, and that is much worse.
I know KR Outsiders also came out recently. How's the image quality on that? That would answer the question of whether it's an overall TTFC problem, or something (seemingly) limited to KR/SS.
Either way, nothing about bit-starved encodes helps Toei in any way. So I'm really baffled why this wasn't just a one-off problem that was quickly fixed. People paying for TTFC surely can't be happy with this.

Indeed, it's a good thing you aren't subbing anymore. Otherwise, if you were, I would need to compliment you for having the foresight to capture the broadcast raw, and the willingness to do all of the extra work required to retime the scripts for it.

Oh yeah! Outsiders is perfect. So I guess Toei just hates their weekly shows

Maybe it's a conspiracy to make you buy the Blu-Rays. I mean, I do that anyway...

But I feel like you can't charge people a service and give them quality like thisHowlingSnail wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 1:57 pmMaybe it's a conspiracy to make you buy the Blu-Rays. I mean, I do that anyway...
/me spends way too long making a gif of something
And why do the blue and the green colors completely change???
Re: What's up with Toei streaming these last two weeks?
It's a broadcast thing. There could be a few different causes. Direct digital capture versus analog-to-digital capture. TV Asahi tweaking their color intensity a bit, etc. Green is also the color that people are the most sensitive to, which makes any differences easier to spot (never mind the intersection of that with how video encoding discards data on a perceptual basis).
Try not to go too far down that rabbit hole; it gets pretty deep.
That's just stupid enough that I'm not willing to discard it out of hand. It would be a terrible reason, but Toei does love their terrible Blu-ray prices.HowlingSnail wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 1:57 pmMaybe it's a conspiracy to make you buy the Blu-Rays. I mean, I do that anyway...

That's just a Japan thing. Physical media is all stupidly expensive over there.

Re: What's up with Toei streaming these last two weeks?
There's a reason why some people reverse-import their anime. The Blu-ray box for Isekai Shokudo is 17k (with nice extras), but the US release is a mere 5k, both available on Amazon jp. If you're not a die-hard fan and you just want the physical media, no reason not to get the cheaper version.HowlingSnail wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 12:12 amThat's just a Japan thing. "We'll make our stream so shit that people will ahve to buy the amazon prime subscription. Genius"
Re: What's up with Toei streaming these last two weeks?
This is quickly becoming a mess.
I guess it's a good thing to have TTFC alternatives if Toei is going to intentionally take a dive. But if I'm reading that right, episodes won't get posted until 3 days after they air? If so, that's not much good for fansubbing needs.
