Oh wow. Other than the chocolates I got, I totally forgot yesterday was Valentine's day. Anyways, excuse me while I talk about (and criticize) one of my favorite things: romantic parings! I don't get hyped over the same gender ships in Toku, excuse me if you are one of those who get hyped over them. If you don't like it, ignore it.
My favorite romantic pairings, in no particular order:
SS:
- Jasmine and Houji
I don't care if she's married to someone 10 years younger than her. I basically don't consider that marriage to even be real.
- Natsuki and Masumi
They're really cute together in Boukenger.
- Takeru and Mako
I love Kobayashi Yasuko's writing, but her stories always make me feel like they have wasted opportunities of some of the best romantic parings.
- Luka and Don
I'm probably the only person who sees Luka teasing Don as something other than her simply teasing her younger brother.
- Tsukasa and Keiichirou
- Kairi and Umika
Just ignore these. Cuz I know that almost no one agrees.
- Sena and Tametomo
SIIIIIIIIIIIGHHHHHHHHH.
- Flint and Kaito
If this pairing had something more to it, I would have cared about Zenkaiger more.
- Haruka and Tarou
I almost had hope for these two at one point. Now I don't. And maybe it's best if I don't talk about this, but I've speculated that maybe, just maybe, Kouhei and Kohaku like each other...? That's just simply my speculation, so pretend I never said anything. It's not like I want them to date, that's just purely my speculation. Sorry for being weird.
- Tsubasa and Natsumi
Why does Inoue have to ruin every unproblematic romantic pairing in his stories? Sigh.

* Touma and Mei (Saber)
Mei should have ended up with Touma instead of Rintarou.
I will never forgive Toei for not making these pairings end up together:
- Hiromu and Youko (Go-Busters)
- Mio and Hikari (ToQger)
- Yua and Isamu (Zero-One)
- Sento and Misora (Build)
- Wataru and Mio (Kiva)
The couples that I hate:
- Every couple in Kiva other than Wataru and Mio
- Daigo and Amy
- Mio and Tokacchi
- Tametomo and Yodonna
I'm honestly hoping Tametomo ends up single by the end of Yodonna 3.
- Tsubasa and Sononi
- Haruka and Shin'ichi
Seriously, just why? I like them better as siblings than lovers.
- Tsuyoshi and Miho (or even Natsumi, given what we saw in episode 49's preview)
Tsuyoshi should get therapy before he gets into another romantic relationship.

Since all I did in this post is rant about nonsense, let me rant some more.

I expected the Vulcan and Valkyrie movie to end with Yua and Isamu ending up together ... As improbable as that was before the movie released, I still had hope, that at least they'll be at better terms than they were at the end of the series. Or maybe Isamu would go back to being Yua's partner. My hope turned into desperation, perhaps. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought the movie would end up like that,
with Isamu ending up possibly dead.
*Otoya and Yuri
I disagree. Yuri could do way better, and she eventually did, I hope, by marrying whoever was Megumi's dad. Even Jirou/Garuru would've been a better match for her, once he had redeemed.
